some headlight questions

me and a friend was gonna open up my headlights to take the orange marker off. but i was think if anyone try to sand down the chrome and paint it black like the 03 headlights. i dont really like chrome headlights and dont got $500 for the 03 headlights. if anyone got tips and hints to do the black housing let a brother know ! thanks

the chrome sands off very easily, sand off as much as you can with fine grit sandpaper, mark off the area's that u dont want painted black with some tape, and then just spray with some hi heat paint, i did a couple coats. The actual sanding and painting part is pretty easy, taking out the old silicone was a bitch, but some people have just used the old silicone, reheated, and stick it back together

normal gloss black or flat black spray paint will work....makes sure u WET sand the lights so u dont leave grooves in the plastic. 3 or 4 layers of paint will do. You can use whatever bulb you choose

i took out the orange marker but left the orange bulb, i think its illegal to put a different color. There are bulbs that are "chrome" but light up orange, but i kinda like the little hint of orange at the sides. I just used some High Heat paint from a local hardware store, i forget the name of it,it was months ago, when u go to the store there should be a few. I put about 2 or 3 coats

i didnt have to wetsand, just used a really fine sandpaper, the chrome comes off really easily anyways its not like u have to put alot of pressure on it.

Oh yeah, I forgot you lived in Canada. I was looking for some yellowish high beams that wouldn't melt my wiring and housing.

LOL i definitely know what you're talking about!

duCksterz just know that u have to take out as much of the old silicone as possible before u put new silicone. Other people have put the headlight back in the over with the old silicone, heated it up, and just put it back together, but for some reason id think putting new silicone all the way around would be a safer idea to avoid condensation

u have to cut a V at the bottom, heat it up, bend it, and then mess around a bit to make it fit, its not as easy as it sounds i made a thread about it before just search "lip"
