Some guy suggests he has a 3.5 SCed TLS
Some guy is claiming to have a SCed 3.5 liter TLS (or at least suggesting it). I thought that these cars might have an issue with a SC due to the high compression of a 3.5 upgrade. I know little about this stuff so I was wondering if some of the brighter minds on this board might be able to chime in and discuss some of the obstacles in getting such a project done. I thought that the SC for the 3.2 wasn't even released yet.

Personally I think this guy is full of it but maybe someone in the florida area may have heard of this car. Supposedly it was shipped to FL to get the work done.

until we see some photos with couple videos of 1/4 mile runs for this claimed 3.5L SC TLS... It is still BS to me.. I do not expect more than 280 WHP from this setup... it would not be a 12 sec car like that of all_motor... Only a Dyno would prove me wrong!
I agree fully with Nashua, same HP and time slip.
As for the SC on a 3.5 I definatly believe that it could be done. hey Nashua get this, if this guy throws on an auto SC on a 3.5 wouldn't act like a 6MT SC on a 3.2? I mean the lower psi from the auto + the higher compression ratio wouldn't it produce the same numbers?

lets just say its not true. If you put the s/c on the 3.5 you'd get a max of 3 pounds of boost out of it before shit would start breaking. The compression's too high and its not practical. Dont listen to stupid shit like that

rick case isn't the only place capable of doing this at all.

I guess I'm not really saying that it can't be done but I would think that there would need to be some tuning done to it. This guy doesn't seem to know much about cars (although I guess if you have the money then you don't need to...can have someone else do it for you), he doesn't have proof, and I would think that there would be more news about it.
Based on the lack of specifics I would tend not to believe this initially.
But it could certainly be done. Remember, going to a larger displacement motor would cause the standard Comptech kit to run about 2.5 lbs of boost. Even with the upgraded pulley it would still be within the reasonable limit on good fuel with a final effective CR of about 13.0:1.

To Rob G: I understand your lack of trust, but like all things on the internet there is no reason to trust until proof is given so that is understandable.
To Spdy0001: Funny thing is soon you will be taking that "bs" flag and cramming it down your throat for bothering to take it out when the truth is out there.
To all others: Once again, I should be considered a reliable source and as several engine enthusiasts have pointed out
1. it is possible despite possible compression concerns
2. it doesn't take rick case to do this project
This project isnt finished and until it is I think it best to give our thumbs up for the effort and hope that it works with great results so that we can be proud of an Acura that has taken it to another level.
Why is there always so many haters????

even if it is done is it worth it?
the weight distribution for a stock tl is 62/38 add all that stuff under the hood you have a 75/25 weight distribution, thats nuts!
if it is real i hope his new project is to convert the tl to a RWD or AWD then it will be sick as hell!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think its BS because AcurajL is saying that its not ready yet but this guy is saying that he'll have the car this weekend.
I'll be the first to admit I was wrong and give the guy his props if the thing is for real but until any of us see some proof (in whatever form it is presented) why should we believe it based on word of mouth? I believed allmotor when he started talking about building a custom turbo and had proof of what he was doing. He also displayed knowledge of what he was doing. this other guy has done neither. I know the 3.5 and SC can be done but I am skeptic that this guy is doing it until I see proof.

He sure is sidemarker...I'm excited to see what it is...he just hasn't told me anything which is pissing me off. I said this on Acura-TL too...but I just got a PM reply from deansbluesi, the Comptech guy here...he says that only one guy has the 5AT SC, and that guy's in Cali...so this guy is full of it. I wonder if he's the same guy who posted in Austin's guestbook on cardomain...www.acura-tl.org...that we all flamed, and he's just trying to get him back...sure sounds like it, he's from the same place and has a very similar name...

Don't be so quick to make statements that you don't know for sure, that's how these skeptics get their ammo. I have a blown AT 5 spd and to my knowledge so does Red Rider, that could be your CA guy. But my point is that is important to get to the truth but to do that we must be careful not to make false assumptions. Just a view.
So wait, where's your blower? I didn't see anything in the pictures. I understand that you might have put it on after those pics. Is it a Comptech?
Also, I can't imagine dean is the only distributor of the CT blower is he?

Yeah it is the comptech for the auto. I am leaving today from work, in southern AZ to drive to Phx. and pick it up. I will take pics and have them posted by tomorrow. I wasn't trying to boast (just boost
) No but really I am justing saying it seems like the people that are the most concerned with truth are the ones who are also the ones that jump to conclusions more often. Just an opinion, but my charger is a reality.
