Some 2003 6-Speed CL availability info
I got this from my dealer on Friday night when I stopped over there to show them the MODS I did to my car.
Take it with a “grain of salt” so to speak, but they really have no reason to lie to me because I already have my car.
They said they got in SIX 6-Speed CL’s so far and are expected to get in only ONE more a month for the manual tranny run however long that is.
They said the 6-Speed will NOT be built for the entire 2003 run.
Basically, when the 2,700 are built....THAT’S IT !!!
Of the FOUR originally shipped in March, they still have a Silver one that they are using for test drives and the owner is driving an Anthracite one which will be sold as a demo in a few months.
They have taken deposits for TWO additional ones that they don’t know exactly when they are coming in.
If you want NAV or a specific interior or exterior color, they need to request that in their allocation or trade with another dealer if they have one.
He basically implied that the run from the factory will only be for a few more months, and after that, whatever is in stock will be traded among dealers till they’re gone.
As for the rumors of killing the CL, they had heard those, but nothing definite.
They did say that the 6-Speed is injecting a LOT more interest in the CL line and they had to turn a few potential buyers away that weren’t willing to wait for the car to come in.
My old RED CL is still sitting on the lot and they lowered the price from 25,990 to 24,990.
It still has the acura-cl.com stickers on it so maybe the new owner will show up here some day.
Everyone loved the look of my car with the new wheels and lowered look.
It made the cars in the showroom look like HELL.
Of course I made a point to tell them that I drove nearly 100-MILES out to Park Avenue Acura in New Jersey for the install because they were unwilling to install the stuff for me.

In a business world, if thre is demand, you make them and sell...
You make them and make money... I think Acura is making money with CLS-6....
So, all this talk could be just BS...
Afterall, Acura made the CLS-6 to heat up interest in the CLS....

Went to Spitzer Acura in Pitt, PA over the weekend. I really hate them because they are true salesmen to the "T". Don't know anything about Acuras...only the numbers on a worksheet.
Anyway, out of curiosity I wanted to price a trade for my 2002 to a 2003 6spd. $7,000 out the door. I told him to suck it. He said the 6spd was a "hot" car and there are limited numbers being built therefore numbers are not going to budge. I hate Pittsburgh!
Shawn, I agree with you.. I went to my dealership 2 weeks ago and my sales guy told me the same thing.. I'm still steamed at the way Honda/Acura has mishandled the CL!!!!!
How many ads am I going to see for the TL and the RSX??? It's like Acura has forgotten about the CL but then complain that the CL's aren't selling!!!!!! WTF!!
I think that there will be a 2004 CL but I'm not holding my breath for a body kit or more hp... As I've said more than once, I think I'm done with Acura.. I loved my 97 CL 3.0 and I love my 01 CLS but I don't see Honda/Acura doing anything innovative or daring like Infiniti.. Therefore, my next ride is going to be the new and improved Qx4 and my fiance will be getting the G35 coupe..

Just to show you how knowledgeable the average salesman is.
Here is the funniest part of my visit on Friday I forgot to post.
One of the salesmen asked why I had taken the FOG LIGHTS off of my car.
I told him to ask ACURA that question !!!
He got quite a few “YOU DUMB ASS” looks from the others there that knew the 2003 CL doesn’t have them.

Hahahaha
But man the proof that Acura is screwin the CL over all by itself is how they advertise a great commercial for the 6speed then when people go to the dealer... "oh it's limited production so we dont get many so we probably cant get the color combo you want and its a long wait" blah blah blah.
IDIOTS!!!!

What a dipass!!!
Just goes to show you that salesman no just as much or less than the average consumer..
I went to go test drive a Toyota Sequoia limited last week and the salesman who was trying to help me out didn't know anything about the car! I was telling him everything about the hp, engine, and the dimensions.. He told me that he was 20 and never sold cars before let alone a Toyota.. Question, what happened to training your sales staff to know or at least pretend to know what they're talking about???

Shawn, thanks for the update.
Sounds like the same story my dealer gave me. Only I got the story 3 weeks after putting my money down. My order was accepted and the dealer indicated delivery late this month. Last week I call for a production date or any little tidbit and now I am told dealer allocation prevented them from placing the order last month and may prevent the order this month.
At least the one car a month is promising. My name is on the top of the list for the next one ordered.
It's a real bummer to find out 6 weeks after first walking into the dealership that ordering the car may be difficult or impossible.

salesman and infiniti
im tired already of hearing about dumb ass sales people.......yes there are alot of them..........but yes there are some good ones too..............if you are serious about a purchase call ahead and speak withe sales manager.........tell him what what you are looking for and your shopping best price.........9 times out of 10 youll get a good deal......keep in mind when you are at a dealer that salespeople have to make a living too.....dont waste peoples time...................................as for all the talk about infiniti........ther being "daring" with new designs because they have to.......have you checked resale on one lately.....................nobody wants one!

Many fail to remember that Acura has done this in the past. i don't know the exact numbers, but they had to only make a few 5spd Legend coupes back in the day. how many 5spd Legend coupes have you seen? not sure about everyone on here, but not many come to mind for me. i'm sure the demand for those were just as high or higher...shit i doubt many owners will sell them NOW for less than blue book! and don't even mention the Vigor...again i don't have the exact numbers...but i would swear they made that car for 1yr! so don't think for one minute that Acura won't do it...the past has proven that they will.

i dont think this makes sense...maybe acura is just trying to draw up intrest by saying 2700 is all they are building...let me explain....obviously the 6 Speed is selling better than the automatic, and the sales are bad enough as it is...i mean, its just simple business that you would KEEP ON MAKING WHAT YOU KNOW YOU CAN SELL!!...lets say you have 2 products, one sells like hotcakes, one hardly sells at all, are you going to KNOWINGLY LIMIT the amount of the good selling product and just HOPE that the non-selling product will still sell???? FUCK NO that doesnt make any sense, acura is definately going to keep pumping out the 6 speed, they have to, its the only CL thats really selling...that would be such a bonehead move to STOP making the ONLY CL that sells alot....they are probably just saying this to keep intrest in the car high and sell that intitial 2700 before the next run of 5000 units by next fall!!!!

Not sure what Codehead is saying
The Legend was offered every year of it's 9 year US production with a 5 and later a 6 speed manual transmission/6 cylinder engine in both the Coupes and the Sedans. That's 87 thru 95. The CL 6 cylinder has had a manual shift for one model year 03. What is Acura repeating?,
CL needed the 6cyl 6speed from day one and is now losing the segment to other sportier coupes. Besides the automatics, styling has been the main problem for the CL sales. Too bad because the car is great otherwise.
Those 2 reasons are why I didn't buy one and kept the Legend, even tho I wanted a new Acura coupe. I might buy a used 03 CLS 6 speed in a year if prices are right.

What is Acura thinking? If the CL was going to be dropped why waste time poducing the 6 speed. It seems like that spent so much time developing the 6 and even before it comes out Acura is already cancelling the car for 2004. Bonehead move if you ask me.
