So my 19,000mile CL-S has no warranty

This is crap. Because I am importing my car from US to Canada, Honda/Acura will not honor their warranty. It won't be honored at Canadian dealerships because the car's American, and it won't be honored at US dealerships because it will be a Canadian registered vehicle.

Just spent 2 hours on the phone with numerous people, bounced back from Acura Canada to Acura US and vice versa.

Thank god it's a manual transmission... imagine if this was with an automatic!

There's no light at the end of the tunnel.

Enlighten me if possible!

That sucks. What about if you purchase a warranty through Acura Canada?

get a US PO Box and register the car to that address. now getting your correspondence is a different story.

or use a relative's US address.

just a thought...

I think I will just settle with the warranty provided by the dealership where I'm buying it from!

The reason they had to do this was in the early 2000 some dealers were purchasing different honda models such as odyssey, mdx for a cheap cost in canada and taking them across the border... It helps since the US dollar to Cdn was 1.6 +... so profit taking was larger... To prevent it from happening... they have incorporated the policy you have mentioned... NO US Warranties with be honoured in Canada.. vice versa....

Good luck though...

you should make sure the dealer you are buying it from has all the warranty service done to it before you take delivery.

and make them have it acura certified.

just a thought.

LOL, well I'm better off here than where I was before. I've been raised here in Ottawa and now that I'm graduating university in December, I'm looking at moving to the US.

ya I was just playing - good luck though with your situation. I wouldnt sweat it too much if you cant get a warranty, these cars are very reliable, and since you have the 6 speed, that is one big and expensive repair you wont have to worry about in the near future unless you live at the strip
