So Acura is hooking me up a bit!

I posted a week or so ago about my tranny going out. Well it turns out my warranty ran out like 3 to 4 weeks ago, by way of "time" (not milage) from original purchase. 01 CLS 70K

Well first of all the tranny really did not go out. I just noticed it sliping when upshifting from 2nd to 3rd. It also hit very hard when down shifting from 3rd to 2nd. So I had it towed in and told them what was happing. I might have worked it up a bit, and the towing it in was a nice touch. But I have no doubt it was on the verge of crapping out completely.

Anyways Acura offered me a 80/20 deal. So basicaly its going to cost me $600 to $700.00 out of pocket, and I'll get a 3 year 36K mile warranty. The dealer said he would try to get it done cheaper to save me a bit more. So I'm hopping for under $600 out of pocket.

Bottom line, I have to say Acura has been absolutly great to work with. Being out of warrant they did not have to do squat for me, but they did.

Thats a lot more than I can say about Chrysler Service for my wifes Pacifica, and its under full warranty, and they still try to dick us around.

If you really are 3 to 4 weeks over the time, they should cover it all.
But yeah they could be dicks & hand you some KY.

Well I tried to get them too cover all but they would not budge. I spoke to Ben with Acura cause I did not just want to take the dealers word for it.

Oh well! Now that it has a new warranty I thinkI'll go ahead and get some nitrous. Just a littl though!

Fine, just tell them this is the last acura that you buy.

I bought two other Acuras from the dealership I go to. 2000TL and a 2008 TL and if they would want my business again, they better find a way to come up with that other $600.

Especially since your car is based on the time warranty and not the mileage, i cant believe they arent giving you any wiggle room.

If you want to be able to ever use that warranty, you better not put nitrous on the car. Or was that a sarcastic comment?

I just called Acura again and asked to speak to someone higher than Ben, who is the reginal rep and the guy on the phone told me he could not transfer the call to Ben's manager because Ben was his boss and all calls had to go through him.

So I'm waiting to hear from Ben again to try and get it %100 covered.

The thing that sucks Is I called on the day the warranty expired and told them I was having problems. They said take it in right away. I could'nt because I had three weeks of SWAT/SRT training to do out of state. I even explained that to them.

So you guys think they should do more?

You don't think they will retract the 80/20 offer do you? I think the new tranny is going in today cause it came in yesterday.

What do you think I should say to them?

If they give more that's great, but if they don't be happy with the 80/20.

I had a similar deal with Chevrolet, tranny died and warranty was rejected on time (36/36). I had to eat the entire cost. If I ever buy another GM product I hope someone shoots me, it's means I have totally lost my marbles.

Wow I'm sorry man you got ripped off. I have a 2003 cl-p and my transmission went out last week, they are giving me a rebuilt transmission with a 36,000/3 yr warranty for 250 bucks out of pocket and I was outside the vin settlement.

Since you're in Fountain, I'm guessing you're going to Pike's Peak Acura?

My 03 CL is currently undergoing a lot of work with them (thankfully still under warranty). They have been great for the most part, but not terribly good diagnosticians. Who are you working with at Pike's Peak?

While I do believe that Acura is doing more than most companies will do about the transmission problem I still think that since this problem was so wide spread in our models and your warranty had just expired I think they should cover the whole thing. I also think that the dealer has something to do with them not covering the whole thing. In any case the fact their covering most is better than not covering anything.

Thats were its at. I've been deeling with Brian. He seems like a pretty straight forward guy!

I've delt with them in the past and had bad luck. There was some woman there that was a total man hating bitch. I almost went up north for a Acura dealer just so I would not have to deal with her. Luckly I got Brian to work with.

Is your a CLS? What part of town you live in? Are there many more in the Springs?

Once I get my car back (and the tranny feels ok)I was going to be going down to PMI for a few runs.

I decided not to complain anymore to Acura . I'm just going to pay the $700, and get teh 3/36 warranty on the new tranny. I'll just write them a letter after its all done with all the details, and see what they say. Not to much I imagine. Over all I'm happy they were willing to deal.

Over the next moth or so I'm going to get the NEO, and headers to go with my power pulley. I think I might get the Thermal gaskets since I was going to remove the intake and clean it up a bit. Maybe get a Port and Polish done.

I found the best way to hit companies is to scare them with the good old complaint letter to the BBB.

I had an issue with Best Buy about a year ago and wrote a letter to the BBB and the Attorney General and once that letter got sent out, i had about 3 different best buy reps trying to call me to resolve the problem.

ive found asking the dealership to reresent you to corprate and getting them (corp) to do the right thing is best ... honda replaced my alt. way out of warranty 100% because as i read on the net ... that gen accord it was a way too common failure ! and i asked them to help me get my tranny replaced on the same accord many years later and they did ! honda knows these trannies are crap ! my accord was 8yrs old but only 57K miles and it needed a tranny , unacceptable from a honda ! 157 and id still be surprised

I've got a CL-S MT and live in Claremont Ranch (80951). I have seen maybe 5 CL's in the Springs since I got mine in February.

What's PMI?

cheers,

They have a decent 1/4 mile drag strip. Just a little fun!
