Snow, sleet, freezing rain....
here we go again. 6" on the ground with freezing rain at the moment. Did our NYS&W Santa Claus train today and every trip was late. Feakin' snow. Second time in Dec and it's not even winter yet!

We got an inch of snow today and everyone freaks out. I swear people lose their mind when they try to drive in the first snow of the season, and it wasnt even enough snow to make me shovel.
We've been lucky so far in southeastern michigan. Everyone else is seeming to get a ton of snow and it's just been cold, but dry here.

Got 5" in Southern MA and now it's sleeting. I was planning to keep the CLS on the road until late Dec. Now that we've had two back to back storms, I washed and put the CLS away yesturday for the last time this season. It will not see the day light until Spring 04

I guess it’s pretty hard to make out, but I just took these two photos from my basement/garage door.
The entire yard is ICED OVER and I can hear tree limbs cracking in the forest around the house.
I hope the power lines don’t come down and I hope they are salting the road well.

got about 7 inches here in rochester, after the plows came, it took a few tries to get out of my parallel parking spot. Not having traction control makes snow just that much more fun

A big tree branch broke off and landed on top of my detached garage sometime overnight.
It’s probably 20FT long with a 3” dia center section.
As best I can see from inside the roof wasn’t breached, but I’m still worried until I see it in the daytime.
It looks like the layer of ice & snow on the roof protected it.
The drive to work this morning wasn’t too bad.
Once I got down the mountain into town the roads were just slush covered or wet.

Completely iced over in Northern NJ this morning. Still about 5" of snow on the ground covered by a sheet of ice on the top. Turned over to rain sometime last night but it was freezing rain. Accidents every where this morning. I waited a while and came in late. Except for the secondary roads it was fine.
Shawn, how's the garage?

Like I said, I checked pretty good from inside and didn’t see any holes in the roof, but it was dark out at 5:30AM this morning.
By the size of that sucker and how far it fell, it HAD to have done some damage.
The tree is about 80-100FT tall and it broke off from near the very top.
Time will tell when the snow starts melting.
I unplugged the TV, stereo and other stuff inside because they sit directly below where the branch is resting.

I’m sure the roof is dented, but no holes were found.

From the looks of it if your roof was made out of anything but paper you would have been ok. Its a good thing there was no skylights however.
Glad everything is A-OK.

When a heavy branch falls 80-100 feet it packs quite a WALLUP.
Look what happened a few years ago……………..
