SLK/C 32 AMG

Does anybody know when the 2002 SLK32 and C32 will actually be availble? Any price estimates? They look sweet!

0-60 times? I saw times of 5.2 0-100 KPH, would this translate to their 0-60 times?

Check out this month's issue of Car and Driver magazine ... They have a full review of both cars. They are both blazingly fast.

I'd say that 5.0 or 5.1 would be the time to 60mph. Also, manufacturer's times are always high so I'd guess they could run with E46 M3s. The C32 was listed at $51k and the SLK at $57K.

I was just reading about the cars in C&D. They are expected here in the fall. Already out in Europe. The approximate price for the C32 is $51K and for the SLK about $57K.

The 0-60, yes is reported as 5.2 secs but this is way pessimistic. Both cars use the same engine, the SLK is 300 pounds lighter and has the same 0-60 time as the C32? Sub 5 second runs are the norm the article says.

The other interesting thing about the C32 is this. AMG will take the 155mph limiter of for clients that insist to run with the 911s. The car will do 175mph. But there is more. Some customers ask AMG to change the final drive ration to a shorter ratio. The car has been witnessed by Merc engineers to do 190 mph !!! This is Viper GTS territory top speed here folks and with an auto tranny UNLIKE the Viper! Amazing. Something tells me that this engine is underated at 349 HP. Wow!

They'll be out in the Spring. If you're not already on a dealer's list - you're too late. C32 will be around $55K. Not sure about the SLK32.

Thanks for the info, I'm gonna have to get the C&D. Nice rides, too bad $50K+ is too much for me right now, otherwise I'd probably have a CLK instead of the CL-S.

Dont even count on the MSRP. Both of these cars will have added dealer premiums for at least a year if not more. Expect $5K-$10K premiums especially on the SLK.

Well, I can tell you they will not be out in the spring in the US. They are coming out this month in Germany. I am #1 on the waiting list at one of the largest east coast dealers (I've had my deposit down since Feb 2000). The car will be about $58k LOADED (meaning COMAND navigation, fully integrated cell phone with voice, etc...).

They will be available in the US starting around September. I'll let you guys know as the first batch to hit US shores will contain my baby

OH ya, 0-60 will be sub-5 second easy. Road tests in germany have reported 4.6 second 0-60 runs. Don't forget, this is an automatic too!

Oh ya, 0-100kmh = 0-62mph

Nah, they will be here this fall, unless MB delays it, but I don't see why they would. But I only know about the C32, the SLK32 might be spring 2002 if that's what you're saying.

I had a '97 C36 that I was going to replace with a C32. Got tired of having my teeth jarred loose on the pothole strewn roads of NY/NJ and constantly replacing AMG wheels and Expedia S-01 tires. I canceled my order and got a TL-S instead. I work for a large publishing company and got the release date of Spring '02 from a senior exec at M-B USA HQ in Montvale, NJ. That was about six weeks ago before I canceled.
