silvia conversion, should i?

in december, i could get my hands on a 240sx. no, i'm not ditching the cl scene, i will still have my cl. but should i get the 240sx and get the conversion? and i want a turbo, so no rice rocket, i want show and go. i'm thinking about nsport, anyone hear of that? anyways, my question about the turbo is will it kill my engine? i need it to last for the next 4 years. it puts out 300bhp, 240 at the wheels. anyone know how to take care of turbo's? if i do ge the silvia, team prestige would let me in their clique after some mods, should i? i want a street car to race too, so the turbo will let me race, and the silvia front end will show. so will the turbo kill the 240sx engine?

I wanted to do the same conversion but too many people have beat me to it. It's the show trend that has come and gone. It's still a bad ass conversion if you do the S15 conversion. Are you going to drop the SR20DET in it? No Silvia conversion is complete w/o the J-Spec engine. Personally, I'd do it.

Yea you should do it. But get a smaller turbo that that guy from houston, he has a t-70, which is pretty big. You said you wanted to road race so you should go with some smaller and more peppy. That guy prob. has nitrous to get that turbo moving.

I had a 95 240 SX and it was for all intents and purposes bulletproof.I swapped out the front crank seal at about 90 000 miles other than that nothing ever went wrong. The JDM motor with a turbo is a nice way to go but remember your car will then be questionable in terms of street legal status.XS engineering sells a turbo kit for the engine in the car as do a variety of others. Some of these may by now be certified legal for street use.If ofcourse you live in an area where they do not inspect the cars or are very lax go for the gold and get that JDM spec engine and go nuts.I drove my 240 out to about 140 000 miles and other than a single oil leak it never gave me doubt to have worries so reliability is not an issue. The engine in the U.S. version of the car is actually a variation of Nissan's truck engine and as such is built to withstand serious use.Jens

anyone heard of nsport turbo? they only make 240sx turbos. and if i dropped in the turbo, will it kill my car? and is there anything in particular i should look for in a turbo, and how would i maintain it? besides the standered BOV, I/C, and tubro timer, and wastegate.

My girlfriend has a 240sx. It's a solid car, handles very well even in stock form. check out www.freshalloy.com for more info on the 240sx.

aww man this brings back memories, I had a pearl white 96 240sx se, that shit was literally bulletproof as Jens mentions, for an odd reason, I had an oil leak too, but that was it, oil changes change brake once...and that was it....but it was too fast, but if you can drop a turbo...that thing hauled ass...

Mine was pearl white as well I also installed all the JDM badges which confused more than few people.I added BBS wheels and a double DIN stereo which was a factory option in the JDM version of the car .A Greddy exhaust and lowering springs rounded it out.If they started selling the S 15 version I would dump my Honda faster than a hot potato to get another Nissan. My Honda though efficient has no power and some of the crappiest brakes ever installed on a car.In less than 50 000 miles the brake system on this Civic has let me down three times already. It's about trade in time I think.I can get past rattles and minor stuff like that but those brakes are a hassle. The brakes never let me down in my Nissan.Jens

My girlfriends younger borther was going to do a s15 conversion. He has the entire front clip (SR20DET, ECU, Gauges, Xenon Lights, Steel Fenders, Front Fender, Etc, Etc.) Dont think he is still going to do it so if you are needing some parts shoot him an email. edyun@aol.com
