I dont like these cars because they're not that reliable but the Merecedes M class handles really good in the snow. You can easly do 70 mph on the highway with stock tires and not worry about anything except for other drivers.

X5>M Class. Although the X5 has quite a few TSBs, some family friends had an ML and it was a peice. Was in the shop every other month and apparently this isn't rare for them. Our neighbohrs have an X5 and love it. Never had any problems with it.

In the last blizzard we had here in Baltimore my friend was showing off in his Ranger Rover. Well we all decided to go sledding and he was saying that everyone can't get in his truck. So I volunteer to drive and he doesn't think the Subie can make it. Needless to say that I went everywhere he went and he was pretty embarassed about the comments he made.
The ONLY problem you will have in snow is clearance, and to remedy that, just keep a shovel in the back and she'll be on her way.

Forester isn't really my style even though it's probably the best bang for the buck, I would rather drive a Sport Suv... Iam only 24 look kinda funny in a station wagon
found a great deal on the Porsche cayanne S... going to look at it on monday...
If that doesn't work out I'm gonna settle for a X5 and mod it simular to this (LOL)
thats hott u know u won't stop there with the mods!! heard good things about the mdx, did that ever cross your mind or is it strictly bwm?? BTW do you still have the hood/trunk for sale. if so i'll be at the philly show, can give u a check then

give me a hollar at the show I will be at the tuner section in street glow booth
btw , yes it has to be a Bmw or Porsche if I cant find a X5
the forester is a pretty good looking car. but i was only reccomending it if you wanted to use it strictly in snow/rain. if you want to make it a show car then uhh.....well that laughably impossible... i actually think i could do alot with a black forester to make it look good.

Yea, the Forester in black looks really good. I wish you luck on finding any mods for it, I couldn't find one for my 98 model. I believe with the recent success of the WRX all of the models have gotten a bit more attention.
I hope you arent driving around on sports suspension tires. They are meant for th summer, and are completely useless in even a slight dusting of snow. If you get an X5 with a V8, and it has the sports package, its the same story. You'll be no better off than you are with the 3 series.
A car is only as good as its tires in the snow, and if you have high performance summer only tires, then X5, 330, Jeep, whatever, you've still have piss poor traction. I have a 540 with snows, and a friend has a 330 with snows. It really makes a huge difference. Turns the car from completely undriveable, to being able to get around without much trouble. I just got home a little while ago. Car made it down the unplowed roads, and up the slope of my driveway just fine.

Yea I don't think anyone in their right mind would drive in the snow with low pro tires that are mainly used for summer. I wanted something sporty that I can mod and again use it for the winter, as for my 330ci it's horrible with the stock Michelin tires. I know tires play a big part in the snow but 4 wheel spinning is usually better that RW.... exp with with out dual traction. Iam planing to keep my 330ci I really love the car ..... just need a sporty SUV to add to the family
My uncle let me borrow his X3 to drive to school until I got my CL like a few days ago. It drives like a dream in my opinion and plus it's cheaper than the X5. But if your want to go big than I guess you should get the X5 than.

Rx-330
I drove my RX-300 today because it rained. Didn't want my CL to get dirty. Great snow car, and I'll bet there's a lot of parts for that Toyo V-6. Reliable plus quiet plus every option in the book.
I still can't get the wife to sell her Legend.
Other solution- move South.

Funny how everyone is recomending the Forester. My uncle that lives in upstate NY got the AWD Forester the first year it came out. I was like what the hell is a Forester? He still has it, & he hasn't had 1 problem, or got stuck, & just loves it.
The X5 is nice, but be warned for such a big SUV it has little interior space.
