SIck of the lack of horsepower

ok so i have an 03 cl-s 5speed auto, im so tired of getting outrun by 1.8t jettas and passats, and little gsr 92-95 coupes.

all i have is apexi N1 exhaust, what would be the cost on getting my acura switched to a 6-speed manual..

why don't you get headers, intake, and pulley before that? I don't see how your getting at ran by any jetta 1.8 unless it is chipped and modded. Also an integra or civic that old is definately turbo'd to be beating you so don't let that get to ya.

Your car is nicer then all those anyways

I just added headers and CAI and it makes a HUGE difference in HP and it also sounds better too. I actually got better gas mileage after headers too

Go with XS Power Headers on ssautochrome.com for $120 + shipping. You will also need six 10x40mm bolts, 10mm nuts, and 12 10mm washers. You can install these yourself as they are a direct bolt on. I took mine to a performance shop though and got them installed for $170. Use the OEM gaskets on your car rather then the ones provided with the headers

Headers + 15-30 wheel horsepower!- $140 if installed yourself. Or about $140+ 2.5 hours of labor @ $75 an hour

As for a CAI I just bought an EBAY CAI from the seller "xrteam". If going ebay only buy the intake off of him...all the others are worthless. I also put an AEM dryflow filter on the intake cause the checp intakes filter is crap.

CAI + 3-7 wheel horsepower- $110

A lightweigth crank pulley from Unorthodox Racing will reduce rational mass, add horsepower and allow you to rev faster.

Crank Pulley + 3-4wheel horsepower and faster revs- $325-350 installed with new belts

A six speed swap is going to be very expensive, time consuming, and complex. GET HEADERS AND FEEL THE DIFFERENCE!

yea....what that guy said....you shouldnt be outrun by 1.8t's unless they're chipped....even with bolt ons they shouldnt beat you...and the other cars unless they're heavilly modded shouldnt beat you either...it would be close..but they shouldnt beat you....you should just get intake, headers, and pulleys, stick with the basics you need before you go crazy and decide to do a tranny swap...leave that for when your tranny dies on you...

I have always wondered how my car would fair against a CL-S 6-speed with intake/headers. I watched a vid of a stock CL-S and stock CL-6 race...the CL-6 only won by a half car!

look at a dyno for both cars. the cls6 will walk an auto. you'll need h/i on an auto in order to keep up.

All great info, but that must be the most expensive crank pulley ever, is it gold plated?

You should be able to pick up the crank pulley only for about $170. Maybe you are talking about the 3 piece set, but since we are talking power, only the crank one does anything and thats about $170.

Exactly what I was about to ask.

To the OP. If you need help locating your butterfly valve, there is a ton of threads on it with pics and even a video of how it should work. If you can't find it, I'll take the time to dig it up after work. Goodluck.

As far the crank pulley I priced it @ $170+ shipping for the crank alone, about $60 for belts, and then install....that's actually less then it would actually cost

Like I told you in the other thread, if your concerned about cost, try this:

OP...I agree with the people above. Something doesn't sound right about your car. My buddies 01 GTI w/ stage 2 turbo kit runs even with my 01 CL-S w/ CAI.

There is no way a stock 1.8T should be beating you. I'm wondering if its more than just your IMRC thats not working. When was your last tune up?

word, last time I got smoked by a 92 jaguar, my imrc was broke.

Or you could just go with the Supercharger and save yourself the trouble of buying a new imrc.

another thing, I smoked a brand spankin new camry on the way home from yesterday, and on the way to work today I smoked a 95-98 civic SI (guessing SI from the SI BLUE PAINT) either way, our cars have some balls. I have an intake/headers/exhaust thats it. When i was stock i would still race V6 mustangs, beat em. I did get skunked by an eclipse though, but I heard his blowoff valve when he hit 3rd though ;-).

I drive by like 3 colleges to get to the hospital I work at, and all the kids cruise up and down it like its A1A or something.

I remember on my first CL (RIP) when it was stock, I would walk all over tegs, passats, etc.

Hate to say it but it sounds like driver error, or vehicle negligence, (meaning you put regular unleaded in, or something bonehead like that, or like installing exhaust w/ no intake, headers)

You think you have a lack of power? Imagine if you drove a 1st gen 4cylinder. Then think about lack of power lol. I solved that issue in mine though.

exhaust only makes about 3whp at most...... u shouldn't talk till you've done some mods to your car

and were not really in the same class with those little civics anyway, we've got leather seats

and 6cylinders, hids, heated seats, heated mirrors, side airbags, 6disc in dash. and whatever else we forgot

park our car next to a civic or a passat, and see which one "out shines".

like a girl once told me, "im so bad ass i'll make you numb" as is my CL.

thnx for all the input guys, what is the imrc? i use 91 octane gas, becuase 93 is just outrageous on price, the jetta was modded, front mount, hard pipes, 3' cat, i know how to drive my car, i think its just the auto that kills me, those damn torque converters, as far as my mods go, i orded the intake from that guy on ebay and also ordered the dry flow apexi N1 filter, also orger the stainless DC headers, ( hope they do good)

as far as racing the civic, i pulled him 60mph+, but when we dropped down to 2nd gear at like 35 mph, he had manual and just pulled the hell out of me.

the motor has 21K miles on it, i think i may need a tune up, like plugs and coils....

im tellin ya bro, 93 makes a difference, when your headers/intake come in you'll appreciate it too. I got mandrel bent pipe from my headers back to my exhaust (no cat, shhhhh) and I noticed a damn good gain when it was all said and done.. let me know if you have any issues w/ back pressure.
