Should I replace damaged stock rim? Need help.

Just scratched my brand new rim against a curb.
Damn. Need some opinions. I called the service buy and he said to replace it would be about $450? Am I getting jipped? The wheel is scratched so deep I don't think you can grind it out.
Where and How can I get the rim cheaper?

Any opinions and advice welcome.

Thanks guys

If it just one rim....

....I would wait until next Spring but since you live in L.A.....I would never pay $450 for another rim. I don't remember the details of how I did it but let's just say I had 2 bad rims, 1 ok rim, and 1 good rim, and 4 so-so tires. Today I have 4 excellent rims, 2 great tires, 2 ok tires, 1 spare rim, 1 spare tire.

I mixed and matched and planned the whole thing and sold off bad stuff, cost me on avg <$200 for a rim/tire combo; all stock. But that's after a lot of stuff, 1 bad rim is a different story.

Tell you what, after that, no scratches since; knock on wood.

I scratched one a few weeks ago too. I checked aroiund and found a place online (www.transwheel.com) that had the rim for around 229. I decided that instead, I was going to go with all new rims(hopefully more scratch resistant). I am probably going to sell my stocks (3 good one bad) but am waiting until I get my springs put on to make sure the new setup doesn't rub.

I am thinking that I could help out three people with Scratched rims by selling one wheel/tire to each of them for around 300 a piece and keep the scratched one for myself as a spare.
