A bubby of mine has a 89-92 Chevy Impala, it's a ritired cop car, will all the mods. He says about 350hp, however, this thing is old and I doubt he can hang of the line. What do you guys think?

 

My guess is don't f*ck with the Heavy Corvette. That things got an LT1 in it.

 

naw, he said it's a standard 5.7 350ci, not the LT 350. I bet I can smoke him. I'm sure the car is decent mid range, but I would hand him his ass off the line.

 

arent the older impala's rear wheel drive...if they are, he should be able to put his power down a lot better from the start...those things are beast....i think it would a very close race if anything

LT1 debuted in '93, IIRC, with the new model of camaro/firebird. vette had the LT4. i could be wrong.

 

Actually I was wrong....... He does have a LT1 and his Impala is a 95 model. He says it's around 325+ HP. It's a retired cop car he brought at a city auction

 

You'd probably get spanked, but why not go and see what happens.

 

Those things are heavy holmes... they got to be able to support those 400 pound thug dope pushers.... you'll chew him up. he has too much body fat...

Also, the tranny in those things in pretty shiiiity. You should pull away after every shift.

 

BURN HIM! Where i live at, everyone is driving a caprice classic, and ss impalas. Mostly everyone around my way has a system and no go fast mods. I been racing those damn cars since i moved in 3 months ago. BURN HIM, i have not lost yet to one of those, but none are modded. The only thing is if you are in upper rpms and he guns that shit, you might get a good run for your money. They are animals on the highway, but then again, so is our cars modded.

 

Race him 1/4 mile... and give him 2 car lengths head start. You'd still beat him.

2. weighs 4000lbs

3. 260/325 (max torque at 2400 rpm) stock config, it's an iron head 350 LT1, the vette and f bod had aluminum heads and 275-305 HP

4. it's an impala S without the wheels, susp.

5. trans is not shit, on the contrary way better than the shit in our cls. These are strong and hold the torque well.

what's that equal.

a tired car that probably would be lucky to break 15.0 at any more than 92 mph when new...now who knows.

mods are surely possible, and headers intake and exhaust will get him about 30 rwhp...which would make it interesting but as it sits. He's yours. might be close right off line if he can launch that hog, but on the highway you'll walk.

(remember most guys here can beat the aluminum headed lt1 that rides in the 3450lb f body...or so they proclaim...so this iron head boat should be yours).
