So I am a former CLS owner, I owned a 01 from 2003-2007. I ended up moving into an 01 S2000 which i wrote off in february.

I was going to buy a 2004 Audi S4, but I'm now considering cheaping out and going for an 03 CL-S 6. It's a cheap car and a good car. Can't really justify more car. only justification is that I can possibly profit from the S4 by buying wholesale in the US and selling in Canada.

So I can afford more car. But then again, do i need more car, no? I'm past the stage of trying to impress women with cars. If the girls dont think the CL is good enough she's obviously the wrong kinda girl anyway.

Also, how much should I pay for a CLS6. I found one on ebay with 65k miles, black on black. ebay link

i think the car should be around 12k but i'm not sure.

And finally are there any known issues with importing a CL to canada?

i doubt anyone on here is gonna tell you to get an audi, if you can get that CLS6 '03 for 12k i think you got a good deal

 

only thing i know about the cl and importing is that it has to have DRLs... easy mod. $65 in parts if not less, i made a thread about it search for it here.

why did you sell the s2k?

the s4 is a great car, but audi never really attracted me. try broadening your search into other cars before you get back into the cl...

the cl-s6 is a great car, reliable and rare... and for 65k mile car it should go for around 13-14.5?

Oh I didn't sell the S2000. I rolled it, on valentines day, after dinner. And I could get another S2k as well. I've considered that. I would go with an E46 M3 but BMW Canada charges a mandatory special import fee on an US BMW's, and I think the 40k it takes to get a decent canadian M3 is a little much (especially considering I can get the CLS6 for 13k).

I guess another car I should be looking at is the G35C, but i wouldnt want to pay much more for one than for a CLS6. because when i had my last CL i was always checking those out. But basically what i want is a decent car, that i can depend on (questionable with the Audi) and take up to whistler (ski hill) in the winter so i can sell my SUV as well, and free up that cash. Another good thing about the CL is it's a US built car so there is no import duty if I bring it to canada (made in north america).

basically why i'm leaning towards the CL is, what other car can I buy for 13k, that is comfortable, reliable, relatively quick (throw some headers on), practical, and aside from dated technology/styling and FWD comparable to cars that I could spend quite a bit more on. It's kind of reality check. Why spend 30k on a car when i could spend 13 and get all I need.

 

I looked into a few of the sold ones on ebay recently. In the completed items page, there were about 6 completed CLS6's auctions with 4 being actually sold. The other 2 were dealers wanting ~$14k.

The average price was $9110

 

with what kind of mileage. I dont really want to buy a car with more than 65k miles.

 

I guess I should really be looking for an 04 TL 6mt as well. how much would one of those go for with 60k miles? After the depreciation i went through on the CL i think 20k would still be too much for one of those. Was there ever a mod like headers that came out for the 04+ TL? and do they still ruin brakes. I just remembered what's wrong with the CL. haha.

 

S4 is a nice car but man are they gas hogs. Don't think I'd want one for a DD and having it as a weekend driver seems a waste as it's not THAT fun.

 

Just get on autotrader and buy from an individual. I got my '03 A/T for $12,200. Just keep you eyes peeled and you'll find a good one.

 

I found a decent buy on autotrader. guy wants 12k for a 03 6mt with 68k and nav.

That leads me to another question. Does the nav system dvd include canada or do i need to get one for canada. And, how recent is the DVD? are we talking about last updated in 2005?

 

There is no DVD available for Canada. US only.

 

And the US dvd doesn't cover any of canada? so if that's the case i really dont want nav!

 

None of Canada is covered from what I understand.

There is no headers available for the TL because they are built into the head. From the head is just 1 pipe that goes straight into a cat.

 

you wouldn't want one with navi anyways, its way too outdated... i say don't get it just b/c of navi

its a great car with great potentials. hands down very moddable.
