Hey Guys:

Due to my tranny issues and overall dissatisfaction with my '01 CLS recently...I'm shopping for new cars. Here are my questions:

1. Is the CLS 6 Speed worth a look?

2. How bad of an ass raping will I take on a trade in?

3. To the guys who have a 6 Speed....have you had problems with all the old stuff us poor 01 and 02 owners have had...such as vibrating rear deck, sunroof squeaking, interior rattles, and warped brake rotors?

Help me...I can't even stand being around my car anymore...but I still LOVE the way it looks.

I have an 03 six speed. The tranny is awesome, and the power to the wheels is so much better. Sadly the rear deck does rattle, and the sunroof spueaked, but there is a fix for that now. Trade in might suck, but I can' see how acura could know they are selling you a new one, and screw you too bad. You would think there would be return customer loyalty, but who knows.

Tmk70 Im in the same boat you are my tranny is getting replaced as Im writing this and It sickens me knowing that it might happen to me again. Im the type of guy that believes when you have a good car it never sees the machanic unless for regular maintenace like the older Acura Legends. What is the sense of having a extremely cool car with suspension, headers, brakes, wheels and tires, audio and video if the car would be sitting in the mechanic shop getting a new tranny. It just doesn't look good for the image and reputation and not to mention resale value who in there right mind would want to buy a CL-S without the extended warranty thats like knowing youll be paying $5k when not if the tranny goes.

I love my car and everything about it except that tranny thing I believe will be the major reasons of me going into a 6 speed. I was suppose to buy one before Zapata bought his 6 speed and i backed out and the dealer was offering me $25,500 for my trade in....now Im lucky if they offer me $22K.

Yeah...thanks for the info, CBR....this would be my 5th Acura if I choose to do it....there should be a "buy 4, get one free" policy over there.

trade in is so bad on CL-S right now, you will take an ass raping with no lube and they will wear a 40-grit sandpaper condom!! dont expect to get more than 17-18 for a 2001 CL-S....i couldnt even get 20k for my 2002 CL-S with 12k miles......and that was after going to about 7 different dealers...the most i was offered for my 2002 CL-S was 20k flat....its a saaaad saaad market for used cars, especially used cars that are getting discontinued and have known tranny problems...

I was able to get $20,000 for my 2001 CLS with 28,500 miles in a trade in. It's not good but not terrible either

get an 03 cl-s, even if you dont want the manual the autos are fixed for 2003. i have an 03 auto and it seems perfectly fine besides a rattle or two. i just cant see myself drivin a stick as an everyday car, maye if i had a 2nd car i'd have a manual as the sporty weekend car but i need an auto for everyday type shit

point is that every car has problems

besides...its worth $18k cause you've...driven it...for a while...you should have gotten stocks or bonds instead of a car if you wanted to be up when you sold your car

How many miles did you have when the tranny failed? Mine is an early 01, manufactured in March 00, I have 47k miles and no problems. I wonder if I havent had problems by now if it will be OK?

I'm bitching because the tranny doesn't feel right, and the rotors and rear deck rattling are back...again. I'm tired of bringing it back to the shop man!!!

It's a shame, because I really, REALLY loved my car.

I have a 2003 CLS6. The thing is, so far, bulletproof at 6,000 on the odo. And real men (and girls who have balls) drive manuals.

all becausei was in a rush, and had to get rid of my car before i took delivery of the audi..

IF it's a recent tranny job (last month or two), you might want to wait a week or two before deciding that you've been screwed.

Most of the recent ECU/Tranny replacement reports have been good with few exceptions. One member said he disconnected the battery (ECU RESET). Result: he now believes the tranny and car is better then ever. (He said it, not me. And he was complaining about how screwed-up the tranny/ECU R/R job was).

RE: Warping... Get some slotted rotors with some non-Acura pads and make sure to BED the pads and rotors in. (if the mechanics are morons and don't torque your wheels correctly, it will still cause you grief).
