Shifting problems???

It seems like when my car has been off for a a while (like overnight) it will shift at higher rpms for the fist time or two. For instance in the morning after the car warms up and I floor it from a stop, in SS or D5, it will shift right at, or a little pass 7K. It will usually make the tires chirp. But after that first time sometimes a second it will shift at 6750. I can tell a little difference, its doesn't pull as hard when it shifts. Is it supposed to do that??

NOLACLS,

There is a section in the owner's manual that indicates the transmission will shift at higher rpm when warming up in order to bring the engine to optimal operating temperature.

Among other things, I've noticed this translates to a rougher shifting pattern for the first 10 - 15 minutes or so of driving time.

In any event, generally speaking the transmission on the CL-S is not the smoothest slushbox I've run across. Not by a long shot.

That brings up an intresting point. I have discovered this week something that may explain my SS problem. I have posted on here about my problem with shifting into third with the SS. Well it seems to not have problems when I have been driving the car for a while. I only live about a half a mile from work so that would explain why I was noticing it so much. I guess the SS has to "warm up"...

Thanks for the info, that is what it is. I guess there is no way to keep it shifting like that. I guess you could with a chip mod.
