Shift Lock
3 weeks ago I had my transmission changed at the dealership, (70,000 miles, they took care of everything). I get in my car the other day, start it, apply break, attempt to shift out of park and the shifter is stuck. I had to use the manual override to shift out of park so I could get to work. Does anyone know what the difficulty is? Any idea on pricing? Does this have anything to do with my tranny change? Please help. Thanks for any input.

Definitely call the dealership, tell them what happened, and have them fix it. If the tranny was replaced free then you shouldn't have any issues that you have to pay for. I had my tranny replaced and never had that problem.

First check to see if your brake lights are working. We have see alot of this on teh TL side and it usually turns out to be the fuse or the brake sensor.

Thanks for the info, I'm taking my car to the dealership tom. We'll see what they have to say. Any idea of the cost of the sensor?

Just had the same problem. It ended up being a very small switch that releases when you push in the brake. It's right above the pedal and it's mounted to come in contact with the bar of the pedal in the resting position.
I played around with the switch for a while, pressing it in all the way and letting out, and mine started to work again. for now.....
I would def start with the fuses. Then mess with that. I think it triggers the brake lights too but i'm not sure
Good luck
