shift knob

if it's an auto, the knob has a chrome color ring around the bottom of the knob and all you have to do is turn this ring. After you turn it it should kind of fall down and you can just lift the knob up and replace it with another. If it's a 6 speed like mine, you have to turn the shift boot just under the shift knob a little and it will break the zip tie that is holding the boot to the shift knob. Then just lower the boot, unscrew the knob and you're good to go.

hmm

I have a type s shift knob (from an auto cl that i bought off ebay) and as far as i can tell with it, you just have to turn the ring and unscrew the knob. if nothing else, you can take it to a dealership and i'm sure they'll remove it for minimal cost (if any).

grab teh knob tight and turn it couter-clockwise really hard. it'll seem like it won't budge, but turn it harder. that's it. no rings to loosen or remove or anything else.
