I was born in 1960. My father bought the first 1964 mustang with the larger motor. I remember that car well. It was the same color as yours and hauled ass ! He traded it in for the first 1971 Toyota Celica, anyone remembers those ? It was sky blue, with red and navy stripes and it hauled ass too ! By then I was 12 and I'll stop here.......
Your car brought lots of family memories !
Thanks !

yeah, the car is really a beauty. I think everywhere I go with it, people talk to me about it -- I never get to where I am going in time

Yes you are intelligent. Back then cars were 10x worse with reliability.

Those pics are great. I am in the very slow process of fixing up a 1964 1/2 Mustang Converible. It is the same color as that one. It has the 289, 4 barrell carb, and automatic. I can't wait to have it finished. I hope it looks as good as yours.

Wow! Thanks people who responded to my thread. So many compliments -- you guys are a great bunch of people! Well, a couple of items to take care of
1) MACH 1 : whoever had the mach 1 -- love the car ... pm me -- we'll talk
2) FUTURE OWNERS : all you people who want to own one of these -- I dont blame you; they are great cars but do require a little bit of TLC as they are 35 years old
3) DECLINE OF FORD : yes, I agree that the newer mustangs are hideous -- plus, I am kinda pissed that ford really dropped the ball with the ford vs chevy competition. At one point, the camero was not any competition for the mustang -- what happened?
4) AQUISITION : I bought the car one year ago in the condition it is in now. It currently resides in my garage under a blanket as it is awaiting some performance additions. As for the price, I payed $5000 for it. It was a steal for the condition and the color and the fact that its a fastback. I have had offers over 20k for the car but have refused all of them
5) CURRENT ENGINE : the engine in there currently is a 289ci v8
6) PERFORMANCE : soon to be in the engine compartment is a 408ci stroked 351W which has dynoed at my shop at ~575hp
7) CL-S : the CL that can be seen at the end of the pipe stem in addition to the gold volvo are mine
Any other questions guys?

beautiful car... Always liked those old Mustangs... I owned a '79 Mustang which was the first model year after the ill-fated Mustang II. I have a '79 Corvette & it's great owning a car w/some freak'n personality & character like the older Vettes & Mustangs.
My mustang is my baby, she is a factory accurate restoration, matching numbers car. has around 64,000 original miles on it and about 1000 since it's restoration. 390CI V8, 4 speed,a blast to drive but can be a pain b/c it does not have power sterring. If anyone has any questions just ask. ya got to love classic mustangs
