She's with another man now

Well, my beloved '01 CLS and I parted ways yesterday. I found a very lucky 17 year old kid who promises to give her a good home. He lives only a couple miles away so I will probably see her once in a while. I'll miss those 1/4 mile runs at the track, embarrassing all of those big bad and loud V8's, and running circles around those M3's. It was fun but all good things must come to an end.

I didn't quite get the price I had hoped for but I guess $15800 isn't all that bad for a car with 85k miles. I figure I had over $14k in mods including the 19x8 Axis Se7en Mods and 18x7 RPM's. I kept the RPM's by the way to sell separately. KBB on the car was only $13500 so I got about $2300 for the mods. I'm sure I could have sold the blower for over $2k but I'd have to deal with uninstalling and shipping and that just wasn't worth my time.

I'll still be frequenting the board and hopefully come to some of the meets to see some of the cool friends I've met over the past few years. Acurazine is still the best forum in car domainia! WCMIV is around the bend right?

Congrats! That's actually a good price. I couldn't get more than $10k for my CL-S when it was back to stock with 93k

Congrats on the sale.

I don't know how a 17yr old is going to be able to handle a 350 horsepower ride, I know I wouldn't have been able to at that age..

Congrats on the sale. That's a lucky kid. I'm positive a bunch of us were waiting like the vultures we are for the "part-out" sale.

What did you replace it with? Good luck with the new ride.

If you peruse the CTS-V forum on the cadillac site, some crazies have gone up to 160 mph in theirs. IT's a beast! Evidently it even has a G meter in it.

so you got the tranny replaced again then sold the car or sold the car with a damaged tranny... kinda shocked at your price for what you had into the car.

I'm not. Being that it's an '01 with 83K he'd only get $9,500 on trade in without the mods installed.

The G meter is kinda cool. Measures lateral G's to the left and right. Hard to look at while you're going around a corner though. I'll be testing her at Pacific Raceways on August 29th. I signed up for their racing school. I'm soooo excited!

Car still has it's original tranny. The work I had done a couple months ago was for the rear main seal. Brand new water pump, timing belt, spark plugs and battery done at the same time. $2k in parts/labor right there. I guess I just got to the point where I was afraid nobody else would buy her. I had it in Autotrader, Craigslist, and EBay and probably only got a dozen hits over the past month. Heck, nobody on this site expressed any interest either....though I'm sure most people on this site already have a CL/TL/RL.

I actually did the moral thing and made sure his parents realized that the car was not your typical CLS. I actually encouraged them to enrole him in a driving school so he could become better acquainted with the car's limits.

Of course I told him about Acurazine.com.

I just hope I don't catch him at a light (I mean track) and get beat by my ol' girl. One great thing about an automatic is it runs the 1/4 mile the same every single time. Now that I'm driving a manual I have to earn my times.

Oh Sorry, I finally read the rest of the post. Congrats on the sale and I hope the kid will appreciate fully what you've sold him. Hopefully he learns this quickly before he damages the car or himself.

I remember the feeling when I parted my car out, and traded her in... It was a sad day, but driving my new car just put a smile back on my face .

Best of luck with the CTS-V, I was definitely thinking of it as a replacement, but got an excellent deal on the G35.

I also thought of the G35 but knew I'd want a blower on it ASAP. That would, of course, void the warranty and I didn't want to have to worry about that. Since I wanted 4 doors and really only love the looks of the G35 coupe I decided to look elsewhere.

When you spoke with the parents did they have a glazed look on their faces or did they understand what beast lies underneath that hood.
