Shaving the trunk...finally...

finally made up my mind...anyone have tips on how I could shave the back of the trunk? I know the Acura symbol won't come off, but how should I go about shaving of the rest? If I wanted to "re-apply" something how would I do that? krazy glue?

Go to the body shop and do it professionally.

Unless it's already really hot outside; heat it up with a hairdryer or something. Take it off with dental floss. Clean up the goo with Goo Gone. Not sure about reapplying it, you'd probably never get the A C U R A looking straight anyway. I doubt you'd want to reapply anyway after having it debadged, it looks slick.

What?? No need to go to a bodyshop .... you should be able to do it in under 5 min yourself.

Like Craigyg69 said.... just use a hairdryer to get it nice and warm.... take some dental floss, string it between your hands, and run it behind the emblems... which will pull them off. There will be some residue left... don't sweat it... use some Goo Gone to remove it. After you wipe down the area... throw a coat of wax on it and boom... you're done.

If you ever want to reapply them just go to your local autoparts store and buy some 3M double sided adhesive tape and you'll be all set!!

I took off the 3.2CL Type-S stuff. Unfortunately, there were little scratches all around where the badges were, so I was left with a ghosted badge. That scared me, so I didn't do the ACURA part.

A couple of days ago, however, I bought some 3M rubbing compound, and it totally fixed the ghosting. I'm now thinking about going all the way and removing the ACURA as well.

I'm getting my windows tinted (finally) on Tuesday, so I'm going to wait until then so I can see what it looks like with tint. But I expect that I'll be getting the floss out once more.

Nate- Is it me or does it look like your muffler alignment is off, almost seems like it's angled to the side from the pic?

There's nothing to SHAVE on the trunk, there are just some emblems to remove and two tiny holes to fill if you take off the A symbol.

Shaving is when you get rid of things like doorhandles, especially on older cars where they stuck out, hence the idea of shaving them off.

The term you want is "debadging".
