Service records

I have a 03 CL-S & I was wondering if knew where I could get the service history of my car because I dont know what the previous owner had done to the car. So is there anywhere I could go and get a list of the service history of my car done @ an Acura dealer? If you know please let me know.

Try calling the dealership of where the car was originally purchased from.

Sometimes they may not release records though. I tried to get them for my car and the dealer wouldnt give them to me without the previous owners consent.

yea they usually wont give them out...

ive seen the ones from my car though. (when it was being leased prior to me owning it)

they wouldn't let me keep them, or look at them very long for that matter

Yeah, that will most likely be another problem with Acura dealerships, they say its "confidential information" because it wasn't you who had the car at the time.

I've been told that many times by dealerships when looking at used cars and even my own car.

Privacy laws prevent dealers from releasing this information. Good luck.

I dont really understand why they cant let us have the information we need, i mean, couldnt they simply give us the records with all personal information removed/blocked, it cant be that difficult.

I agree. Tried the same thing when I got my CL-S and found out the main acura line 1) does not stand by work done by a certified acura dealership/technician, and 2) does not have service records linked from dealerships.

I did reach the place that rebuilt my transmission before and she was supposed to fax all the records but never did. I"m assuming someone chewed her out for offering to do that due to confidentiality crap.

That confidentiality stuff is BS. Why does it have to be a secret where, when & what the previous owner had serviced on a vehicle. You can get a carfax to see if the previous owner had an accident or if they had body work done but you cant find out what service's have been done to the car, its the same thing. I use to work @ a Porsche & they have a program that you enter the vin of the car & it will give you the complete service history of the car of all services done @ an authorized Porsche dealer. Honda/Acura needs to come up with something like that plus it would be an upside in selling used cars cuz you would be able to have all the service records of the car done @ a dealer even if the car has been serviced in multiple states. That way when selling the used car you could show how well the previous owner(s) maintianed the vehicle.
