Service advisor told me I was "Shit out of luck"

Well friday the Cl gave me the death shift and light show on the dash to let me know my tranny was finished. So today I called the dealer to see what they wanted to do about this. My car has a build date of 06/00 and does have the Vin# with the bad tranny. He verified that then told me that I was 3 months over my Tranny extended warranty. I told him I did not think so he insisted I was I was always aware that it was 7/yr 100k miles he said yes but i was over I said the car has only 85,xxx Miles he said yeah but your "Shit out of luck" sorry. So after I put all my thoughts and anger aside because I was at work when I called I realized that he was wrong and that I had another 8 months before My time was up it was too late too call and ream him a new one. Well bottom line is tommorow i will be calling acura care and another dealer and that dealer and ask to speak to a manager. Am I wrong ? Or am I really "Shit out of luck" ???????

No CL is over the time on the transmission warrenty. None.
The only way the warrenty is expired is due to mileage.

Call back and speak to a manager. This service advisor sounds like a retard.

for real? so as long as I wait till I hit 100k, I am fine? I thought there was the 7 year limit as well? I'm at 50k now and I felt a few hiccups when the car was shifting in auto the other day.

I'm saying at this moment. It will run out at 7 years or 100K miles whichever comes first. But at this point in time, they can't deny a transmission warrenty based on time since no CL has been on the road that long. And since he has 85k miles on his car, hes still covered unless his car has a salvage title.

Find another dealer asap! this guy is a moron........

My car's in service date is 3-31-02 so I still have about 2.5 years left and I will be getting a new trans very soon I believe since I have the 2-3 slam under light trottle and when using SSS mode, the trans lunges lurches after shifting into 3rd......

If you didn't already, make sure you get the name of the service advisors that you speak with. This way if something like this happens again, you can completely throw them under the bus w/ the manager. This guy was probably just trying not to get your business (not sure why, they're gettin reimbursed by Acura). Definitely call and talk to the manager, and if not satisfied, take it to another dealer. There is no excuse for them not to honor your warranty.

Or talk to a customer in such an unprofessional manner. Telling a customer he's shit out of luck deserves a kick in the groin.

I was told the 100k acura replaces any transmisssion problem. My tranny just went out and I took my acura to the dealership and I was treated like a VIP!

this is the only fear I have about this car. I really want to keep it for a long time, but it feels like after Sept 2008, I will be counting the days.

Even though I don't have an auto, this issue makes me upset with Acura. It seems like Acura should warranty these trannys for 100k no matter how long, it is obviously a huge problem and not backing up their autos will make auto buyers stay away from future cars. You would think Honda would spend the money to keep customers happy. Keeping an existing customer happy will bring back their business and the customer will be more likely recommend Acura to friends. But piss someone off and they WILL defiantly tell friends not to buy an Acura. Seeing as Honda and Toyota are pretty much the only companies turning profits right now, its not like they are hurting.

Oh ya, the other thing that makes me upset with Acura is the lack of RWD. Hopefully they make something good before my CL dies or I will be jumping ship…(shutters thinking about that)!!

Build date means nothing, You need the in service date. That guy is a complete moron, & should be fired! Even if he used that date of 6/00 that still not 7 years. 7 years would be 6/07! What a POS person!

Personally, I wouldn't give them the satisfaction to taking it somewhere else. I'd make damn sure THAT dealer had to fix it. That guy was a fucktard for sure. Sorry about your troubles man!

Every time...never failed...I was always so freaking pissed off I wanted to smash my car through the service department doors...the desk jockeys are idiots...and a lot of the techs have noooooooooo customer service skills whatsoever...so they are dicks most of the time.

I'm glad I haven't been back to one of their service departments in a long time. Somebody would have to take me to the nut factory.

One dealer here (Burekle acura on brooklyn BLVD) asked me how old I was when I tried to schedule a service appointment for my trans....I asked him what does that have to do with anything? I have never been back. Went to white bear acura dealer and they listened to my problem and scheduled an appointment for next wednesday........

The last asswipe service rep that told my dad the same thing regarding their failed tranny was FIRED and HONDA paid for the new tranny! My Dad asked me what I told Honda Customer Service. FOOK the dealership, call Acura Customer Service and QUOTE what that asswipe told you ! You may just be surprised !

I think (because of insurance reasons) if you are below a certain age they will put you in a rental instead of a loaner car.

Nah was more of that "you look too young to have a CL type S" or "you are young and therefore you abuse the car" type of look

I have a theory on why they treat(ed) us CL... errr ex/CL'ers like doodoo... I think of it like taking a VW Quantum to the dealer to have it serviced... (I worked at a VW dealer) The techs hated those cars. They called them "don't want'em quantum's". And anytime a tech had to work on one he was pissed and he'd rant on and on about how big of a piece of shit the car was blah blah blah... Well, it's a dicontinued model too... Think about it...
