Serious mileage!!!

WOW!!! I just got 24.3 mpg from my last tank!! That is unbelievable. There was a fair amount of highway driving but, even on the highway i have it floored and stuff. I was definately not driving conservatively. I am pretty happy.

What kind of mileage is everyone else getting?

This weekend I did about 90% highway driving/10% city and got 27mpg. My Dad wanted to hear the CAI so I did a couple WOTs for him as well.

The sticker on the car doesn’t say it, but the 6-Speed definitely gets better mileage then the Auto if you behave with the VTEC.
I averaged between 18-22 with the SlushBox 2001, but with this car I’m regularly getting 22-23 at each fill up.

My “long trip” record with the 2001 was 32.5 MPG on my way to Canada.
I haven’t taken any long trips with this car yet.

Around FL, to & from work, I get about 250 miles on a full tank. I haven't figured out the mileage. I'm a very bad lead foot. I do 90 on the HW's, alot of full throttle etc. My 3K mile road trip to NYC though I did keep track of mileage, & got 33-34mpg! 390-410 miles on a tank!

28500 miles

27.7 MPG average

It seems the brand of gas can affect mileage.

2700 miles

I've been getting around 25-26 mpg, ExxonMobil Premium (93). Gas mileage appears to have gotten better as the engine has broken in.

That mostly highway though, avg. about 75 mph I'd guess, mixed in with a little city driving near work and near my house.

heh, u guys are impressed by 23-26 miles a gallon? The CLS has this knack for being super fuel efficient (like with most cars) when ur not stopping and going. If you drive a constant speed, even 100MPH, the fuel economy will be that much better. It's not how fast u drive, but how hard u accelerate and how often u accelerate. When I drive to Los Angeles to San Fran and vice versa, I don't even need to fill up on gas; In fact the first time I did this I got about 32 miles a gallon. Went all the way from LA to SF on one tank and guess what, I didn't even hit red yet!

What brand do you use?? I get 20 miles per gallon everytime, no matter which brand. However, last week i filled up at the Arco, and my car would not budge. It felt slugish, Then i put in 76 with PRO POWER and it rocked like ususal.

How much is that per gallon???? Here is the Bay Area, currently
gas is about $1.79-$1.89 a gallon for Chevron Supreme.
And that is only 91 Octane.

A Texaco near work. My car does not like the Texaco near home.

I try to switch brands every 5000 miles.

The other station I tend to use is a Crown.

I keep a record of my gas purchases/MPG for two reasons:

1. Keep an eye out for pump fraud.

2. Keep track of prices/quality

Gas quality varies by region and business, so no brand is 'better.' Some companies share gas when it is cost effective. The stations I get a lower MPG average from I avoid. I reason the lower MPG is due to incorrect pumps/pump fraud or poor quality gas. For me, it is not much trouble to get a receipt, write my mileage on it, and enter in a spread sheet at work. I also note when I change my oil or add fuel system cleaner.

I've got 5000 miles and I get 18-20/gallon. If I mellowed out I could get a few more but that's not gonna happen.

The last month or so it's been $1.59 near my work in New Hampshire and $1.67 near my house in Massachusetts (except on Super Tuesday! 8 cents off, whoopie). Those are both ExxonMobils, Premium (93 octane) gas.

I usually get about 230 per tank, down into the reserve, in city driving in Atlanta. That's a lot of SS, haulin ass, etc. I went to Orlando this weekend, and got 380 miles a tank, with about 2 gallons left to spare. Pretty big difference.

I get 19mpg in the city (absolutely no highway). I have 30 stop lights in a 13.5 mile one way trip to work. I just returned from a 380 mile business trip (all interstate) and got 27.5 mpg with the cruise set at 75. I'm burning 93 octane local brand of gas.

I am leaving for Colorado in 2 weeks. I will have the CAI installed by then, and I am curious if my mileage will increase as claimed.

I've read that there is supposed to be a mpg increase at highway speeds with the CAI.
