C'mon guys... LOOK at that midrange power! That is like 16hp and 20ft-lbs! It's not all about peak power. Even if the car ended up with less peak power and torque it would be WAY faster than the stock car because of the HUGE gains between 3500-5000 rpm

THat car has a TURBO................

The original 2003 MAZDASPEED Protegé took performance and style to new levels, with a powerful 170-hp turbocharged engine, a dynamic sport-tuned suspension and aggressive, highly distinct styling.

Should get more than that on a turbo ECU upgrade. Putting a chip and 3 bar boost sensor in my 2.2 litre Audi gave a 50 hp increase. Turbos are easy to get more power out of as long as the engine is strong enough to take it.

I think we might be looking at the wrong baseline #s on there. The #s at the top of the chart don't match the graph. Looks like it may have gone from 135-164 which would be about right.

well....no telling what was done. Perhaps only timing and fuel maps etc and no increase in boost?

Although i can see what nashua's getting at. Hopefully this ECU thing will come through.

damn that car runs rich! I run 20 psi and I don't get into the 10's for A/F. I would think there is more power to be had if they lean out the mix a little.
