Seattle questions
Hey all!
I'm getting settled in, in Seattle--both cars made it here fine. I do have to say that traffic here (I-5) is just as bad as that on the east coast (just like I-95, I-66 and the Capitol Beltway).
I have some questions for local members:
1. I'm now living downtown and don't really need 2 cars anymore--I hate to say it but the CLs isn't the best city car. I think I've taken it out of the garge 1x in a month. Is there a Carmax or something similar here? Where do most people sell their cars?
2. I didn't really realize that is hardly ever snows here--what kinds of tires do you guys buy (all season or just performance tires?)?
3. Are there any other sundance CL's here? I haven't seen any yet--but I see Passats (my other car) everywhere!
thanks!

What are Sundance CLs?
I have a CL type-S and I am just fine with the OEM tires all year.
I don't think any car bigger than a Mini Cooper is good for downtown Seattle.
Selling a car here usually involves AutoTrader magazine and The Seattle PI or Times (same thing, really).
Traffic here sucks and if you have to pay the Monorail tab fees you will be in for a surprise when you get your registration renewal - $$$$.

Welcome to Seattle. Well if you decide to keep the car this winter, ya may want to hold onto those snow tires. It will definitely be a wet winter, but I suspect a snowy one due to our nice dry summer this year.
As for selling, what CLSter said.
As for traffic. Stay off I-5, SR 520, I-405 and I-90 during peak hours, 7am-10am and 4pm -7pm.
Learn the side streets, they are your friend, even with speeds of 25mph, you'll get to where you're going with ease.
If you're just traveling downtown, then the bus system is free within what is called the CBD, from 6am to 7pm. Thats Battery street to the north. Jackson street to the south. 7 Ave to the east. Course that's Metro only. All others charged.
Again welcome to Seattle and enjoy Latte land.

Thank you all for the nice welcome and the advice! I'm happy I made the move to the West Coast--love it here so far!
Coming from Virginia--where we had car tax--I'm already used to the car tax thing
I've been walking to work so the CL just sits in the garage--but I've noticed that a lot of the streets are rather rough!
About the rain on Monday--I got splashed by a bus on my walk in and was totally soaked! But that's minor compared to the people effected by the local flooding!
My dunlops will probably have to be replaced next year so I was wondering if I could get by with tires that are good in the rain but not necesssarily good in the snow.

Here's another question for you guys--how specific is the state with state inspections and mods (including light bulbs)? I once had to pay to have the aftermarket blue bulbs taken out of my road lights becuse they were not appoved by the department of transportation. Virginia was that anal about the inspection. Just curious!
Thanks
