Exclamation Seatbelt question.

I'm having some warranty work done on my 03 6 MT SMR w/navi tomorrow at the stealership.

My question being, and I may have them check this out, but my seat belt seems to have some trouble retracting and returning to its original taught position. It always gets stuck on the side of the seat near the rear entry seat release lever... right inbetween the seat and the b pillar. It's a pain in the ass... the seatbelts are set back quite far but I dont think it should be like that.

I mean... the friggin passenger seat has sensors in it to turn the airbags on and off... i figure the seatbelt should be able to retract properly.

Anyone else had this issue? ? ?

Mines the same way... I just deal with it...

It would be interesting to hear what the dealership has to say...

I'm out of warranty, but I've got some credit coming from a local dealer. When I go to get some work done there, I have to remember to ask if they can look into it since it's "safety related".

Maybe if you tell them that you fear it won't retract when your in an accident, they'll take care of it

for now its just a nuisance

There is a lifetime warranty on seatbelts. If you push it may get replaced. Mine does it too and it's a pain. I miss my Legend, it had a seat belt presenter that moved forward when you shut the door and always kept it wound up correctly.

they have a lifetime warranty. mine did the same thing. I took it to the dealer and they replaced both seatbelts free.

Well, went to Jackson Acura today. Very impressed, the guy put all new front breaks on the car under warranty and washed it, and gave me TSX loaner (slow). Anywho, the guy was like yeah anything having to do with safety is really important. They ordered a new belt for me and are going to put in on Tuesday.

The guy said the same thing, "the belt is dirty"

what we do is spray the complete belt with silicone spray, pull/let retract a few times, then wipe excess. it will retract almost like new

I once took my car to the dealer, and the guy tested the seatbelt, and said "your seatbelt is not totally broken, it just has a weak retraction. Therefore we cant replace it for you."

9 times out 10 a dealership will do everything they can not to lose money. I was really impressed with Jackson Acura ATL tho, I guess because they are new and trying to establish a customer base they are increasing their customer service standards.

Anywho, I also had them order a new center console lid for me.... Anyone elses seem to pop up randomly because the latch is too small or does not close tight enough...

I feel you guy. My dealer told me it was just dirty so it wasn't covered.

Keep complaining about it. I had the same problem, and I told them that it took forever to retract. They ended up changing it. The last thing they need is for something to go wrong with the seat belt after you complained.
