Seat Leather Replacement

Hey, haven't been around the CL forum for a while, lots of new gen owners here I see. My CLS is still running great at 65k miles now.
But the driver seat cushion leather is wearing.
Anyone replace their leather? Is it best to replace the pad too? I see about $300 for leather and $100 for the pad at online Acura parts places. Any better deals/options? The rest of the seats are Mint.

Have been considering getting an RL so I've been away. (I know, totally different car).
Still love my CLS tho. The last coupe Acura will ever make??

Welcome back!

Your best bet is to take it an upholstry shop. The leather from Acura is $300 for the bottom, and $400 for the top. So ~$700 for the cover per seat.

I only need the bottom cover, the back is clean.
An upholsterer can match the stock look? I checked them out on my previous Legend and it didn't seem that much cheaper than just getting OEM covers. hmm, I'll have to check around.

Well, if you only need the bottom then Id probably just get it from Acura then. The color still may be slightly off due to age though.

As for the foam, whats the condition of your bolsters? Are they still tight or did they sag outwards? If they sagged, then the new leather is going to stretch and look like crap down the road.

How worn? With only 65K miles I can't imagine it being so bad it needs replacing. From my experience you want both pieces if your going the Acura route. The leather is a little more Grey then black. I had the bottom done on my car under warranty way back, & it took a full year for the color to match/blend in with the top.
You may be better getting a complete seat from a wrecked car.
Unless your getting a full interior done no need to spend the $ on a upholstery shop.

Just some surface cracks at corners and sides of the seat bolster, seat surface leather is slicker, shinier and flattened. When you see the mint condition of the other seats, the wear is more obvious. It's not terrible but I'd like to freshen my car!
anything to help avoid going for a new car!
besides some dings, my car is in great condition.
are the 01-03 CLS driver seats all exactly alike?

Yeah they are all like that. Mine is started to display just like yours & it's been replaced once already.
Condition it a few times in a month & really let the oil's soak in. Should help things.

Get some Katskins if you are thinking of the Acura route. Its about $400 for replacement of all the seats.

Interesting. It would look much better with grey or silver instead of the blue. The blue is a bit "ricey" IMHO, especially the steering wheel.

I think that I'm about to go this route. Is there a seat replacement DIY on the site or am I better off having a pro do it for me????

I remember seeing a general DIY for it awhile ago.

If your not comfortable with the clips under the seats then Id let someone else to it.

These pictures do not do it justice, my buddies dad has this car with the same interior and its beautiful, darker than it looks in the pictures so it blends better with the black leather and the rest of the interior.
