Seat Does Not Automatically Move Forward

I have a 2001 CL and the lever on the seat, that makes the seat move forward when you lift it, no longer works, the seat does not move forward when you lift the lever. If you use the controls on the seat the seat can move forward, back and it also reclines without a problem. So why is it not moving forward when the lever is lifted up?

Is there a switch that is broken? I dont think it is the motor since the seat can move forward, I guess it is a switch that tells the seat to move forward that is broken.

I posted this question a long time ago, and no one could answer it.

I'll give it a shot.

Should you decide to empower yourself with further investigation, here is a link to purchase a CL repair manual download for $22:

Acura CL 3.2 2001, 2002, 2003 Service Repair Manual PDF Download | AutoManualSource

You may be able to find a manual for the 2nd gen TL here on the forum with a search for free. The seating is similar, I believe.

With that said, this problem is most likely associated with the 'Rear Seat Access Cable' which is buried in the side of the upper seat frame where the rear seat access knob/lever is located. There is an adjustment procedure in the Helms for this cable; however, it appears that there is substantial front seat disassembly required.

The Helms also mentions that there is an 'upper limit switch' in play with the operation of the rear seat access cable. This may be another point for fault as well.

Good Luck!

Thank you very much man, I really appreciate your time and effort. I posted on here twice, today and two years ago, and I was shocked no one had an answer. I think this explains what needs to be done, but its not worth that much effort. I might just buy a used seat.

Not so fast. It looks as if I did not even make it into the ball park.

Make sure you follow the procedures on the pdf link below that EE4Life provided in his thread link:

http://www.urvi.net/forumfiles/SN/B08060I.PDF

This appears to be the 'home run' that you need to remedy your problem.

Well done EE4Life!

Yes I think he hit a home run for sure. However the bad news for me i am pretty sure it is not the passenger door switch, it is probably "adjuster" which is expensive. But I will see what I can do.

Thank you EE4Life!

i performed this fix on my cl. i had to take the seat apart, and get to the cable. it basically just slipped out. It's near the top where the latch is. Pain to get to but easy fix. I secured the cable in position using metal wire. made sure it would never come out of position again.
