SEARS for wheel alignment?
i'm getting new 18's and i already have a 1" CT drop (no camber kit). Sears says they can do it correctly even after mentioning the prior. Are they reliable for a 4-wheel alignment? Where ELSE in Central NJ would anyone recommend getting their wheels aligned.
Also, my steering wheel is off-center (wheel turned slightly to left is straight). is that included in the alignment, or is that something else?
I'm getting 18x7.5 45 offset Konig Prophet's (yes, finally)
and going with a 235/40 profile Nitto 555
is this size OK even though Discount Tire recommends 225/45?

You might need to go to a specialty place cause when I went to get my wheels done, the regular place could not fit the laser guide thing on the wheel. It only cost 80 bucks for the alignment at the shop. They got all the high tech shit also.

I'd go to a firestone or bridgestone repair place and get their lifetime alignment for $150.00... it's good to have it because after two times of getting yor wheels aligned you'll already be saving money.

Dude, I wouldn't go to Sears for an oil change, much less an alignment.
BTW, the "crooked" steering wheel is part of a basic alignment. They just center the wheel and put a brace on it, then do the "toe" portion of the alignment to make your steering wheel perfectly centered.

3D alignment is awesome! They hook up the sensors like they would normally...but it's different. The machine shines a laser beam at the sensors which are reflective...and the the beam that is reflected back to the machine will give u the measurments. If i remember correctly...i don't think they left ur car off the ground.

I had an alignment on a previous car at Sears. I took the car ( bonneville ) to the pontiac dealer, and they SHOWED me how far off the alignment was.
And on my crown vic, they SOMEHOW put the tire on backwards. I swear to holy hell, I did not even know it was possible to face the sidewall inwards.
These happened years apart, but I had hoped they could install tires with no problem. They will not inflate properly either. One of the mechanics told me they usually go 30 all around if the person writing the ticket doesn't specify the correct psi on the work order. Apparently reading the label on the door jam is too much.
And this past Thursday, after I brought my CLto sears because the rear brakes locked, I discovered that the Sears tech looked in the power steering resevoir when he was supposed to check the brake fluid.
So, if I were you, I'd stay away from sears. I don't even like their clothes.
