SE Mountain Driving
I am wanting to set up a mountain driving day for those in the southeast, primarily central to eastern TN, central to northern GA, and the Carolina's.
I was thinking about mid Feb. A link to the map is below but to those who don't know this route I'll give a quick overview:
Hwy 129 from TN to NC is incredible. Imagine 180 turns in 30 miles all while the elevation is constantly changing. The pavement has constant transitions even when climbing up to about 4000' and dropping to about 2000' elevation. This is set in the Appalachian National Forest so there are no building anywhere. Just dense forests opening up at the top of the mountains to tremendous views. Down low in the valleys you are basically in a canopy of trees.
Let me know if you are interested. I’ll be driving the CL-S this time (leaving the 328i at home). An Audi 1.8T and possibly a Z06 Corvette will be in attendance. Anyone want to run with that last one??
Zoom in on the map to see the turns, but many are 180 degrees after running a quick straight at about 70 MPH. BTW, you will need to copy and paste the whole link for it to work.
