SC Auto CLS vs 350Z
On the way back from Vancouver yesterday with my new SC and I caught my wife sleeping in the passenger seat. Well, this silver 350Z and a 40+yo guy driving it come flying up the scarcily-populated 99S highway and slowed down right next to me. We were cruizing about 65-70mph and I was in 5th gear (letting the car drive for me). We made eye contact and it was on! I slapped the shifter over to SS and tried to downshift twice into 3rd. I should have just left it in full auto and stomped on the gas. Anyway, the car never got down to 3rd...and you know how our 4th gear sux. Surprisingly though, the Z very, very, very slowly started to loose ground on me. We went to about 100mph. Given the right gear and a little more boost (I'm still running the UR underdriving crank pulley) I may have been able to pull a little better. I glanced over a couple of times at the guy and I could tell he was getting pissed. We evertually came up on some traffic and he had to turn off the highway anyway. I was very impressed with my car but even more impressed with the Z. I've spent about $5k on my engine and it was barely pulling on the Z. Oh well, a kill is a kill.
Oh yeah, the wife woke up in the middle of the race and started yelling at me to slow down. Luckily, I was already winning and traffic was approaching.

the z is lighter, RWD, has .3L more displacement and 20 more hp.
the s/c makes it fair.

To the original poster, did you get a tranny upgrade? I'm surprised that the auto can take the horsepower increase.

The engine is not touched; just expanding on what the Comptech SC kit provided.

Lots of Zs are running pretty reliably upt to around 400hp at the wheels. Anything more and the motor is suspect. They go through the manuals like crazy though. Seems the Z/G35 are opposite of the Acura. The Autos are incredibly strong while the manuals are fragile

This is it for power though as any more is a waste on the street. The engine seems to be doing fine as well as the 6-Speed manual. The IC and more boost has only been on for a couple of months now so we shall but everything feels solid.
Below is a video I made this weekend while testing the electric cut-out:

I called Comptech yesterday to help me diagnose why my car is having trouble starting and told him about the UR crank pulley. He said he thought I was probably barely getting any boost at all...just turning the SC so that incoming air was near stock levels. I still have alot of future power to look forward to.
BTW, he suggested my car is having trouble turning over due to:
1. Air bubbles in the coolant system-needs to be bled
2. Fuel pressure regulator needs to be turned one rotation
3. Basslink sub is drawing power needed for starting? Not sure about this one since is takes about 10 seconds for the sub to come on anyway
4. ESM needs to be soldered due to a faulty/weak connection
He also said he recommends putting the stock 10lb crank pulley back on the car. He insisted the stock one contains a vibration dampener. I'll risk it anyway.

I guess I'm not really following everyone's need for a perfectly fair race... If every race were fair wouldn't every race end in a tie?

Who cares what's fair anyway?
In any race, both parties are putting their pride on the line. If your equipment out-matches your opponent's, then that's his problem. Purists are like Monday quarterbacks... Nice kill Seattle Cl-S!
