Angry sandstorm!!!

i accidently left my sunroof tilted and a sandstorm came by. now when i pull open the sunroof cover, it makes grinding sand noises. is there a way to clean out the sand stuck between the cover and the roof? i tried holding the cover while opening the sunroof but it automatically drags the cover along.

might want to close the sunroof a little and then try using a vaccum with a small head extender to see if you can suck up most of the sand....other than that you probabl need to have someone remove your sunroof and do it that way...but thats the expensive alternative..

You may want to try alternating using compressed air and vaccuum.

try using dust off to blow out some of the sand.. it'll be a mess so someone to vacuum at the same time?

definitely a unique occurrence!

I was thinking you might be able to take the headliner board down. I did it in a 92 Saab 3 door and it was a pain but doable...not sure how much of a bitch it would be in the CL. Anyone done this?

Ok here's what you want to do:

for the grinding noises: get a mask and goggles. Tape up all the air vents and interiors in the car so more sand doesn't get into your car interior spaces where you can't vaccum easily. Get an air compressor tank (or those bottled ones if you don't have access to that) and just let it rip in between all the crevies. Blow everything out, some will go into your car some will go out -so what. Then vacuum the interior.

Give the car a good ass wash. I'm talking about watering it down so all the sand is completely off BEFORE YOU START WIPING IT. If you wipe and sand is still on the body, you will scartch ur CL. Then just clay and buff.

EZ =D Good luck

Well....I guess you can benefit from this in the future with painting the valve....leave it outside while it's storming...=x

alright i just spent a good hour cleaning the sunroof rails. i noticed that there are four drain holes around our sunroof. so what i did was qtip all the dirt out. then vacuum as much sand as i can. last, got a pitcher and slowly poured water around the rails. the water drained out behind the rear wheels. there's still some grinding noise, but it's a lot better. and aunggu, i will try your method when i buy those dust blasters next time.
