Salvaged 01CLS w/transmission failure
Have a buddy who has a 01 CL-S w/74k on it's second (pre-revision) unit. It is a salvaged vehicle, but the transmission is starting to have issues again.
What are his options at this point? Acura ran the VIN and saw the salvage info, but they are going to see what they can do.

There's a reason why I NEVER recommend anyone buy a salvaged vehicle.
Acura may good will it, but since it's salvaged, they don't have to do anything... Your friend may have to pay out of pocket to get the tranny repaired or sell it to someone who will have to pay out of pocket to get the tranny repaired.

Long story short, the oil jet kit has been installed by the dealer (last week), but no dice on the transmission replacement.
The thing hasn't failed yet, just the occasional symptom of failure.
The fluid is dark brown, so we are going to service the unit by draining and refilling three times with new Dexron-III(H) and Lubegard Black to extend its life.

P.S, all this extra pampering isn't really going to prolong the life of the tranny if it is already having symptoms. Either way, good luck

Actually:
Lubegard "Red" Protectant- used with correct fluid (i.e. ATF-Z1 or "compatible" fluid)
Lubegard "Black" Protectant/Converter- used with Dexron-III(H) or Dexron-VI to make it compatible for use in Z1, T-IV, SP-III, and +4 apps.
I'm using Dexron-III(H), so I'm adding Lubegard "Black" protectant/converter.

As long as whoever buys it checks the title history they'll be getting exactly what they paid for. If the tranny craps out on a salvaged vehicle I think whoever owns it at the time is SOL. The mob may agree too.
