S/C, HBP & E-manage Question

I'm going to be installing the E-manage unit to my S/C'd HBP'd CL. Do I still need to keep Comptech's EMU wired in? Does anyone have any info on how to install the unit and if there are any major considerations I may need to tell the shop b/f getting it dyno tuned?

if your talking about the ESM, it will need to be taken out so e-manage can get the correct voltage. also, one thing to remember is to make sure your boost limiter cut setting is check or else your ecu will see boost and pull timing like crazy.

Hm there should be a step-by-step write up for what needs to be done prior to, during, and after the install/tune

do you have a PnP from Scalbert or are they wiring each wire into your ECU?

yes the ESM comes out like Bigguy told you.

I have Scalbert's excellent PnP wiring harness. You've gotta see this thing! It must have taken weeks to create.

Should the IMRC be connected or should I leave it disconnected?

Once you install the IC you'll be removing it completely

Technically you are correct. With the e-manage if you tune it well enough you can "tune out" the lean spot that is created with the HBP and IMRC connected.

Sounds very complicated. Maybe SeattleCL-S can return it to the seller

I did sell it indeed. My reasoning was complex...

After having that rear main seal episode and dropping $2100 to fix it (along w/ new water pump and timing belt) plus only running a best of 13.9 @ 101 at the track last Wednesday, I decided that I'd had enough of modding this automatic car. I've been toying with the idea of a different car for the past six months anyway and the IC just wasn't making any sense. With 83k miles on the original tranny, I am also starting to worry about future expenses. I know MrSteve and Mattg understand what I'm saying. On top of all that, Habib was the most persistent guy I've ever met. He PM'd me twice a day begging me to sell it to him. This was before I had even received it!

I apologize sincerely to Allout for not giving you a ring first. To tell you the truth it honestly just didn't cross my mind. You've always been so helpful and I feel aweful now. Maybe I can find a nice blown 6-spd like MrSteve and I'll get back on that IC list.

Good thing you forgot about Allout

Yeah, I have it now but need some help wiring E-manage, cuz Seattle's harness was autnatic it wouldn't do me much good.

Darrinb: 13.9 w/out IC

Contact Scalbert and see if he's still producing PnP harnesses. Good luck with the kit.

No apology necessary. If I was getting spammed 2 times a day, I think I would probably relent also

Your decision to not go IC is probably a wise one. It's easy to get caught up into the more power mode. After I saw what Ronnie's C32 AMG does, it puts things into a different perspective.

Back to the E-manage...

I called a shop about getting the emanage tuned and he said that I shouldn't hook up the ignition side of the emanage on Honda V6's. He says it messes up the stock ECU. Is this true?

the ignition timing map worked perfectly on my car, so that statement isn't true. also, if your using scalbert's harness, the ignition side is already intergraded into the plug.

you should just get your car tuned here in portland cause that shop that you mention doesn't seem to know what their talking about.

I agree, they don't really know what they're talking about. I did find a shop called CarbConnection in Kirkland that says it should be a very easy tune (especially since I already have an O2 bung in the exhaust.

Not true. In fact it is needed to retard timing. Plug everything in as instructed. You probably don't have to retard nearly as much timing as the IC map needed. Probably 3 degrees or so. You also won't need as much fuel up top or mid-range.

Sounds like the car is running good. How did feel yesterday? Have you had experienced any more belt slippage?

The car "felt" fine last week when I only ran a 13.9. It's kinda hard to feel the difference between 13.9 and 13.6. I don't think belt slippage was ever my problem.

Why do you need to retard the timing?

Timing should be retarded about 4 degrees on your setup. At least that is how it comes from Scalbert.
