Anybody out there that can recommend how often to clean the air filter on the S/C setup?

 

you should check it (and clean it) however often you change your oil in my opinion

 

My S/C installation book says to have the filter oiled every time I get an oil changed. I think...

every oil change, you are suppose to clean and re-oil the filter.

 

As often as it gets dirty. When you go with a performance setup, all your 'routine' checks have to be done more routinely... heh

 

I have been giving mine a quarter turn every 2k miles our so. I'll clean it as soon as it appears dirty.

 

Clean it with what?

 

I was at CompTech last week and asked Shad about the S/C intake filter cleaning. He said you only really need to clean it whenever it starts to get dirty. It certainly doesn't hurt to clean it every other oil change as the manual suggests, but it's not always necessary.

In my case, I already had 7k miles on my filter and it still looked very clean. So Shad suggested that I check it every other oil change but only clean it when it starts to get dirty.

It all comes down to driving conditions.

That's what I was thinking. Turn it to a clean spot. I want to get a K&N. THey only need to be cleaned every 50k according to them. I think I cleaned my last one at about 15k and it was still fairly clean.
