RWD Honda???
I was talking with some guys from Nitto Tires last weekend who said that the buzz from the Honda NA camp was that they're in the development stages on a new platform RWD platform for the CL or comparably sized coupe.
At first, I thought it could be possible since they did release the S2000 but then why would they mess with its popular FWD platform that sells them tons of cars...
Can anyone confirm these rumors?

I heard that Honda is going to take the RWD S2000 platform and make a 4 door sedan/2 door coupe to complete with the 3-series and IS300. Now that'll be interesting!

To me, this makes perfect sense. Honda DESPERATELY needs a "sport" coupe to reside between the NSX, which is cost prohibitive for most people, and the S2000, which as a two seat roadster, is simply not a practical car.
You're right about the FWD platform selling lots of cars, but the CLs don't sell. Look at the lots. They're FULL of CLs. Those of us who were early adopters got RAPED on the price. FWD sells TLs, Accords and Civics, the core of Honda's business. If Honda were to make a real sports coupe on par with the 330ci, the new Z, the 3rd gen RX-7, then I think you'd see a lot of people coming over to the Honda camp. They could do this car for $37K base, $40K loaded.
Would I pay $40K for an Acura coupe? You bet your ass I would! Give it the power to pull mid to high 5 0-60 and high 13 low 14 1/4 times, suspension to die for along with Japanese reliability and I'm there. Shit, I'd pay $50K for a sub 5 second car.

I would also like to see a RWD Acura Coupe because I prefer the RWD setup in a sport coupe but I'm not sure about paying the same price as their german counterparts...

I like the accord coupe but there are so so many of them here in the silver color I like.

Right when the s2000 came out they said they would probably make a coupe and a 4 door version based off of it. And the Prelude is dead. The Accord Coupe is the successor to that position.
