RWD Conversion

I was wondering if anyone could list all the parts necessary to do a RWD conversion. My birthday is coming up and my Dad told me he'll pay as long as it's under $300. Thanks.

300 dollars.. bwahahahaha!!!

Sorry, not making fun of you, but I find it hilarious. I don't know if you're gullible, innocent, or naive; maybe all of those. RWD conversion is something I have on my mods list, and will definitely be done in the future. A realistic estimate of cost would be more like 5000 dollars including labor.

I don't even think money is the real question ($300 no....), but reliability, driveability, and benefit/cost of individual "effort" is.

I think reliability just depends on the quality of workmanship. I mean, the parts and engineering are already there -- Acura did it on the CL, which is the same chassis as the TL (and auto CL). It wouldn't be a total custom engineering task like swapping the tranny on, say, an MDX.

Looking at his signature, I assumed he was talking about his CL-P.

Unless he's talking about a RWD conversion his R/C car (for example, of course.. most are AWD), $300 would be more like a tip to the mechanic.

300, that is crazy man, that job would be so hard and so expensive that it would be cheaper to buy a nice rwd car

If it's for the CL, I don't think the $300 will cover that conversion.
Tell him he might need to move the decimal to the right to make it $3000.

You barely could convert from 01 tails to 03 tails for $300.

$300 could be cutting it close. You might have to throw in an extra $100 of your own money.

Actually, I've been wondering about an AWD conversion kit; using some MDX parts and a mod to the 6MT.

Let's see... New tranny, new drive line, re-work floor panels, new seats - old ones wouldn't work, trunk re-work, new diff, new axles, wheels. Re-work engine compartment, electricals, finishing, repaint. Hmmm... $5K would be light, more like $10-15K, and you'd end up with something that was guaranteed to fail. MTBF = 9 months max. Better get Jesse James to do it!

I was actually thinking of doing a mid-engine conversion...similar to that of the NSX.

Realistically... it will cost upwards of $10K to do it right.
