Running 235s with your 17" stock?
Is anyone running Falken Ziex ZE-512 or Toyo Proxes 4 235/45/17 on your stock 17x7 rims? If so, can I get some feedback? I'm considering these tires.
Am I better off with 225/50/17?
Thanks!

I have the 235/45-17 eagle f1 gsd3 on the stock wheels with no problems so far. If i did it again id probably of gotten 225/45-17 . There will be a very slight minor gap where the tire meets the wheel, and the tire will stick over the edge of the wheel that it didnt do with the stock tires. Only can notice real close up, but still looks fine to me

Not reccomended for a 7" wheel., but then again, everyone seems to be happy with tires with a load rating less than 93 also. I guess you pays your money and takes your chances.

i ran 235/40-17's on my stock wheels. they fit perfectly. a little short for the cl-s though.
if i was you i would go 225/45-17.

Go with 225/45/17. I've had both and (1) the 225 looks better b/c the sidewall isn't so high, and (2) 235/45 series tires should not be mounted on a 7" rim.

Some considerations...
The Toyo T1S in a 225/45-17 has a 94 XL load rating and EXCEEDS the Acura's load specs.

I ran the 235/45-17s on stock rims and the only problem was finding an alignment shop with the correct gear. The Toyos have such a wide rim protector, that when combined with the stock 17x7 (2001-2002 CLS wheels) made for hassles with certain alignment gear. I am running 235/45-17 T1S Proxies on my 17x8 SSR Comps.
The minimum requirement is 7.5 inches. However, some manufactures -- like BMW and GM -- have put tires on wheels that were a half inch too narrow (at least according to the manufacturer’s published specs).
You would probably get better acceleration with the 225/45-17s due to their lower weight and higher effective torque. There is a point where a too-narrow rim will cause the contact patch area to suffer, and no one has done tests of a 225/45-17 against a 235/45-17 on the stock 17x7" wheels.
Your speedo will be a bit off with a 225.

225/45/17 weren't in stock so I just rode back on Falken Ziex ZE-512 in 235/45/17. Couldn't really test the since I had three of my other tires in the trunk and one riding shotgun.
I'll report after the weekend once I break them in.

So far, so good, the tires grip very well for all season performance and the price is excellent. The 235/45/17 don't seem to be much wider than the 215/50/17 Dunlop Sport 5000s but this may just be my eyesight. We'll see how they perform in the rain and snow. I wss very pleased with the BFGoodrich G-Force KDWS that I put on my Legend Coupe and these Falken Ziex 512s seem comparable so far.
