Running 110 high octane ?

I am thinking the next time I go to the track. I'm going to get there on a very low tank of gas. Do a few runs then add the 110 and flip the switch on the unichip to see if there is any difference. Now when i'm done and go back to map A is it ok to run that high of octane if the car doesn't really need it until I can get 93 back in it?

They put the lead in it to gain a higher octane. Gas used to be so cheap because if it was low in octane then they just add lead and then it have an higher octane.

louie,
additionally, lead was used to allow the valves cushioning when contacting the valve seats in the heads the cast heads used on some race engines still require the lead additive most notibly "vintage Racers and many 1950"s 1960's muscle cars. today's fuels use different additives to boost octane. 110 race fuel such as found at many race tracks are usually leaded. aviation fuels are usually leaded 115 octane rated. some sonoco fuels can be purchased drop shipped in 104, 110 and 115 rated octane non=leaded, very expensive. some sun oil co stations sell 100+ octane pump fuel, non leaded i believe

Almost all high octane fuels are leaded....your o2 sensors will be toast after a couple of gallons!
