Run it with a Porsche Boxster S!

Well, a friend is buying a g35c and has it on order for now. While he waits, i guess he argued with the dealership to give him a loaner car of his choice, so he got a boxster S six speed!
its not the newest edition, it has orange in the tails. i dont know the hp rating on those, but the new ones are 250.
anyways, first up i took the gs4. lost pretty bad. i would take him at the launch but once he and i both hit second, his hp kicks in and whoops. took me by about 2-3 cars at 90.

next, i bring on the tls. he says he doesnt want to keep launching the car from a start(hes scared he will burn the clutch), so i quickly agree to do a roll ing start. i dont have to deal with peeling out so we even things out.
first time, its from abou 10 mph, he gets a slight launch ahead of me, has me by a car. towards the end of the race, i am edging him out!!

he had one person in his car, weight was 125-130. i had one person in my car, weight was 200 lb (so he says!).

since he had the weight advantage, we switched the passengers. now i got the scrawny man so i saved about 70 lbs right there!
once again he gets a good take off, and we did this one from 20. i have it in first so i get a good launch. by the end of first he is a hood in front. end of 2nd, we are tied. 3rd i start pulling on him, put half a car. then almost get a car length before triple digits.

of course, he had excuses ( i was granny shifting, etc...)
since he is only 17/18, his experience is limited so i give him that much. still, he has driven sticks for a year now, including a vette z06.

Best part is i got it all on tape! Not the crap quality either, real camcorder. now we just need an s vid cable to connect it all up i can get both races posted! ill do it during the weekend.

Sounds great, I can't wait to see the vids!!! The regular boxers are pretty slow, but the S are pretty quick. Now you have me skeered......not really.....

BTW, I will be racing at LACR on Jan 24th, will you be in town?

Common, I drive a TL-S, don't be scared . Crappy stock tires too. January 24 is a Saturday, that's good with me! Or sometime in January.

Hey sounds good, the 24th is Pontiac Drag Days, and I will be bracket racing. I suck at brackets and expect to lose in the 1st or second round. So then I coule run with ya in the time only lanes.

I'm not sure if the 04 schedule is up yet, but check ou www.lacr.net for info. The weekends are usually pretty crowded, so maybe we could meet up before then for a wednesday or fiday night grudge racing.

Oh, and if Chemmech can beat me in his blown TLS, I'll have a few GTP buddies there to back me up. My buddy was just broke the 12 sec barrier at LACR(2700ft elevation). I think he ran a 12.8.

But I like the idea of a blown TLS vs a blown Regal, I think it could be a close race. What do the Blown TLSs run? High 13s at sea level? That would be around 14.4 -14.5 at LACR and I run 14.7 at LACR.

13.8 in the 1/4, I doubt I can do beter than that for now. Btw, where is LACR? Is it closer than Carlsbad raceway from LA? I've never been to the track, but it sounds like fun! .

LACR is in Palmdale, follow the link above for directions. They have grudge racing every Wednesday(not crowded at all) and Friday(can get a little crowded) for $15!!!! Its a lot of fun. From 5:30-10PM at night you can usually get 8-10 runs in. The only thing that sucks is the elevatin and it is a slick track. Elevation takes about a half second from your ET.

If I go before the Jan 24th date, I'll post it here to see if you guys can make it.

read carefully, "he says" as in the boxster dude didnt want to ruin his clutch, so he suggested a rolling start.

wait till i get the video up. it was real close but its clear that i take him. the passengar did a great job with the camera work, even got some shots of the speedo!

Ya, but LACR is 3.5 minutes from my house. LOL One of these days I'll try to make it down before they close it down for the freeway. Don't you need a 4X4 to get back up the return road?:P

My buddy just set a new PB down there, he went 12.3 in his GTP!!!! FWD in the low 12s is pretty awesome, oh and he just passed Cali smog with a big cam and IC. DOH!!!!

Nice kill.

So he orders the car and they actually gave him a loaner car while he waits for the new G to arrive??

That sounds like a sweet dealership. Did he have a trade in car?

UPDATE ON VId!

Update on vid!
I got it on the computer, its encoded in divx format.

Problems:
no sound, and some skip frames - very watcheable though.

i want to post it up but i think its best to get sound and video with no skip frames for a good vid. after all, ive seen what a bad quality vid can do for you guys!

for those who are interested in seeing it without any editing or sound, pm me and i can send you a link to get it.
pm me SOON, i am leaving town by Wednesday and will not be here to respond after that.

when i return, around new years, there will be the whole thing in car talk, till then, if you are interested in seeing it without sound, pm me!

Vid link!

ah screw it, i cant get the vid with sound so i will post what i have.
remember its without sound so, just look at my tach to know when it starts.
he got a good jump in every race especially the first.
i almost take him on the second to last race but we have stop because of a bump in the road.
last race is where i get perfect shifts and he get a 1 car lead in the end, but it wasnt easy.
enjoy, and if i get it with sound, i will repost it here.

right click, save as:
http://lifestylejewels.netfirms.com/boxstersvs.tls.wmv

there is a total of 3 races to look for. the last one is the one is the best for me, first is best for him.
