My rpm stick around 3 k when it's hot out in traffic. But once I start moving and get some open road. Car is normal. Sucks when this happens cause I have to keep foot firmly on brake cause car wants to go really hard once I let off brake. I have no check engine light. The throttle plate is clean. Car idles fine in the morning. Even all winter nothing happened. Only have this problem in summer time?

 

Kind of hard to diagnose if it's intermittent. Might be best to take it to a mechanic. Try checking the IACV.

 

plug in a scan tool that has real time data ability and see what is going on... sounds like a TPS failure to me or a vacuum leak

 

Vac leak I would guess.

But usually it's the other way around the warmer the car is the more the idle drops. I agree with yeuemmaimai with the real time data scanner.

Or else you may waste hours and hours beating around the bush

I've had this problem on my 01 CLS for the last couple of years. Bumper to bumper traffic in 70+ deg weather and it creaps up slowly from normal idle to 2200 rpm. I actually drove it into the Acura Dealer with the idle at 2000+ rpm. They can't figure it out. I've replaced two idle control valves, and after they wanted to swap it out again, I got ugly and now they are telling me it is the throttle body sticking. They cleaned it out (again) and its been OK, but I had this just happen again where I got stuck in traffic due to an accident.
