got a question i just got my xlr8 high flow cat and comptech b-pipe installed but now i have a really ricey drone when accelerating. what can i do to get rid of it? i love the gains, the hp increase i recieved is incredible but the drone makes it sound like a civic now. im wondering if putting my stock mufflers back on would do anything but im worried that would hurt performance. any options?

 

put stock catalic converter back and see how is it... im 90% its cat

 

I had this Vibrant 3" in/out resonator put in after I had my custom 2.5" exhaust installed. Got rid of the rasp and quieted it down a bit.

My xlr8 cat added a drone as well. So yeah it's the cause. But mine is deep not high pitched. I have a stock b pipe.

 

My test pipe added a deeper tone/drone to mine.

 

Get a resonator.

Thats a decent price. I picked up a Thrush resonator for my Civic a few years ago for around the same price. It cleaned the tone up right away.

 

Is the drone only in a certain RPM range?

 

add a resonator, try cherry bomb. heard them on other imports and sounded nice. havent heard it on a j series so who knows how it will sound

 

had a drone before without a highflow cat, but the cat really made the drone show up for me

most people seem to get the drone between 1500 and 3000 rpm, when they modify the exhaust

 

^haha, no drone here at any rpm. its just ridiculously loud at all rpms

when i accelerate i get this annoying civic rice burner sound. i ordered that magnaflow resonator i mentioned above i should get it tomorrow we'll see how it goes.

 

cool. mines not ricey, its nice a deep, then just gets annoying. and with no radio, its like hell. cant wait how its gonna be like with no ac/heat. o well. the turbo spool and bov should keep me entertained.

It's about 1100 -3200 for me.
I wasn't expecting the sound to change either. I only replaced the cat because the stock was bad.

got my resonator installed. the car sounds so much better now kind of g35ish.

actually i dont. had exhaust completly ran through by NAV-AV6 who installed the resonator. my car doesnt sound like yours in that video.
