Rev limiter

Although this is not something I do all the time, I was reving the engine while parked with the tranny in neutral and noticed that there is a limiter at 5,000 RPM. I am just curious why they would put it there and not higher.

well, why would you want to..or need to rev passed that point while in park??? obviously the revlimiter during actual driving is higher (7100 i believe) so the parking rev limiter is totally irrelevant...unless you have a good reason to be reving like that while in park????
