Would resetting the ECU after adding headers or a CAI help performance?

I know some people who had civics said after adding a mod like an exhuast/intake/header they would disconnect the battery to reset the ECU allowing it to remap the fuel setting.

Can any one confirm this if its just a myth or real performance gain. Thanks

I believe that it does help initially, but your ecu will readjust anyways after a couple of days...or minutes. So either way, it will go into effect.

I agree. The ECU will eventually resets itself to the new modification. I was told that the ECU always recalibrate itself every 2 wks. Don't know how true that is, but it appears to be true in that when I had my Lude Si, I installed headers and about 2wks later the car seemed to be more responsive.
