resale value suit?
resale value suit?
Any reason why the Nissan purchasers can get together for a class action suit, claiming they lost resale value due to frequent brake replacement, and get their complaints addressed by the company....
...yet we Acura (or ex-Acura) customers don't do the same and can't get the same satisfaction?
Check this out:
Nissan Faces Infiniti G35 Brake Defect Lawsuit Tuesday, October 12, 2004:
Reuters reported that consumers have filed a proposed nationwide class action suit in Los Angeles against Nissan North America Inc. over a brake defect in the Infiniti G35 they say has undercut the vehicle's resale value.
The lawsuit, filed on Friday, asks that the automaker reimburse owners of G35 sports sedans and coupes made in 2003 and 2004 for the costs of fixing the defect, which causes brake pads and rotors to wear out faster than normal.
A similar lawsuit was filed last month in Florida.
Nissan disclosed the problem in late 2003, and amended its warranty to cover the brake pad and brake rotor replacements for the first three years or 36,000 miles the buyer owns or leases the car, Nissan spokesman Kyle Bazemore said.
The company also reimbursed owners for brake maintenance that had already been performed, Bazemore said.
Bazemore said the company had no comment on the California lawsuit, but described the Florida claim as "unfounded."
The lawsuit claims the brake problem "significantly increased the expected costs of ownership of a G35 well beyond the warranty amendment" and diminished the car's value.
"You're still going to have to replace brakes and rotors more often than you normally would," said plaintiffs lawyer Aashish Desai.
"Who is going to want to buy a (used G35) when they know they have to replace the pads and rotors every year?"

Shit. I wish I only had to do mine once a year. I do a full swap every 6 months since they warp so fast on my CL-S

I got my brakes done at my mechanic before I joined the forum. Car was shaking like hell. It didn't cost that much to get new brakes all around. And it's been about 9 months, so I hope I don't have to do it once a year. If I do....BBK, here I come.
I agree with Zippee....hard to win one of those. And still sometimes you have to find a dealer that don't give you a lot of crap about mods on your car. Plus, lets be honest here, we drive way to fast to have brakes last a long time on our cars. I know I do.

There's been no offical word from Acure on the problems the CL/TL has/had. So no recourse. A TSB, or recall is not enough. Also the G35 is still a current model. The CL/TL is not.

In MY Opinion, i think this is kinda gettin out of hand with lawsuits....poor resale value is just the nature of the car market! Plain and simple...yes cars have problems and blah blah, and yes manufactures should take care of those issues, but why should they have to pay because the resale value of their car is not great.....well then almost ALL domestic auto companies are gonna have to reimburse everyone for all their cars since they all have shabby resale values and poor reliability. You ever see people buy a Chevy Suburban for 50g's and less than a year later have to trade it in and only get 30g's, or a BMW 745I for new around 80 g's and a year later only get 55g's, I have. You dont hear those owners filing lawsuits against anyone because the resale value hit is so much.
Bottomline, cars depreciate, there isnt anything you can do about it and you cant hold a manufacture responsible for the USED car market.
Im in NO WAY flaming anyone in this thread, just people in general that file these lawsuits.
