Res

I wish.

Has anyone ever tried to get the CAD drawings from the guy that has them? Maybe we could buy the drawings form him and have it made ourselves. This damn thing needs to become reality!!!

The last I heard is that funding became an issue, and with the recent economic troubles it didn't help.

He is still holding out hope that when things turn around he can move forward.

Not sure who he was dealing with from a machine shop basis, but it seems they wanted too much up front.

I also think he did get a patent for it so who ever tried to market it would have to watch out.

So does anyone know how to get a CAD diagram of our intake ports? :P

Can we do something to make the res a reality? I think it would be one of the bets mods (next to headers of course) that we can get!

yay or nay?

I believe scalbert made one but it didn't make any gains (in some instances lost an hp or so) so the idea was scrapped.

What makes me more is that the RES does not do shit when the IMRC is closed if I am not wrong below 3800 rpm the butterfly valve is closed and the RES ( or the inake manifold cover plate) does NOT affect the path of flow of air at all... (Maybe blocking some air emission recycling holes may help) but there is NO influence of the intake manifold cover on the resonace what o ver!) when the B. Valve i open you get a bigger intake volume that is it!

Resonance Enhancement System is BS!

im not sure if you looked at my link nashau...but the beauty of RES if it were real (i believe it to be) was the bump in power was from top to bottom...im very disappointed that doug didnt do something with it...sell the prototype...anything

I assure you it has nothing to do with Resonance... it has to do with messing with emissiions air recycling features of the engine.

If I remember my engine basics from 20+ years ago, this wasn't about resonance or emissions.

And if I remember all the posts on MMI, and some PMs with some of the guys close to project . . .

It was more about increasing and improving the airflow and intake volume capacity.

And that my friends would make sense.

It's sort of like putting a tunnel-ram or high-rise intake on an older V8 carburated engine.

So I absolutely believe RES would have produced such gains, and it made sense.

IMO as a former mechanic and ex-hot rodder I would bet on it.

I wish it were that simple. If it was Scalbert would have had better luck.

It's more than a matter of making a bigger "intake". There is some engineering to the flow and design.

That is were you need the details and unless those guys give that up, then you're facing a lot of trial and error.

Now if we can find out how to get you in contact with the guy, then perhaps he might be willing to work with you on production and costs.

Just some thoughts to chew on.

Yes, his name is Doug. I think he went by syncivic on this board. You may want to try the TL board. I think someone over there knows how to get in touch with him. I don't think he is at Rick Case anymore. Someone find this guy and get the ball rolling again. It it will be all that it is said to be, it will be, by far, the best mod for the price.

Someone find him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just PM'd one of the guys that knew him to see if he can help us locate Doug.

The challenge will be that he just left for military duty in Germany. So I'm not sure how long it will take for him to check messages. But I'll keep you posted.

nashua - i dont think RES is IMRC related at all, the res on the premium engine provided great gains as well and the permium doesnt have an IMRC valve right? least thats wat i thought one of the differences was

Well you are right about the difference between CLP and CLS...

On the other hand, I was thinking about modding part 2, 3, and 4 in this figure:

Maybe gains can be attained by modding parts 2, 3, 4!

Nash, I had the intake manifold port and polished and the gains weren't that great, so I doubt you'll achieve any gains by modifying 2,3 or 4.

What are you plans for 2,3 &4? If you alter the inside of the funnel you'll have to port match the manifold. The metal on the chamber is pretty thin so 'hollowing' that out might not be a good idea.

Nashua, i think.....er i know we can pick up some gains by getting somebody to make us something similar to this piece that hondata makes for the K series. It's a heat shield that keeps the heat insulated.

Hondata have developed a special high temperature insulating gasket which replaces the stock intake gasket. This and bypassing several heat sources significantly reduces the transfer of heat from the head to the intake and incoming air giving you up to 5% more power.

That's a hugedrop in temp!

I believe it would #7. I contacted hondata about and they said there were no plans to make it.

How much would the cad design be worth to you guys. I had the plans made up of the entire chamber but I wasn't able to get it made because the tranny went out again so I just ended up chucking the car. The engineer that drew them up still has them but I'm sure he'd want something in return for his work.

CAD design of the RES? It'd be worth something if we knew it worked How much does he want?
