Remote trunk opener...

Hey guys, when you use your keyless remote to pop the trunk, does the trunk just unlock or is it supposed to pop open (actually open). For some reason, mine just unlocks and I have to physically open it. Just wanted to make sure what it was supposed to do....

Thanks!

Do you have a spoiler? There are two setting on the trunk lid torsion bars, the second setting compensates for the spoiler.

It barely pops open unlike Lincolns. If it's warm out and the rubber gets sticky it will just unlock b/c sometimes it sticks to the trunklid.

If it was an OEM one, the kit should have come with the new springs you needed. They were supposed to replace the existing ones. Even on the stiffer setting the stock ones will not hold the lid open. If all you got was the spolier, then you need to get the springs. They are about $30.

The spoiler depot spoiler would not come with the kit... you'd have to get that from your Acura dealer.

Even when you do get that... don't expect the trunk to fly open....it should unlock, and pop open several inches at the MOST.

I think you can adjust it to make it pop open... My trunk pops open before dealer installs the spoiler... the dealer told me that they can adjust it to pop open.

i prefer it not to pop open. if the button accidentally gets pressed ( which has happened to me on two occassions) its not opened for the public. you can't even tell its opened!

Ok so that's not an OEM spolier, it's an OEM knock off, so the kit is not included. See if a dealer can put the lid on the stiffer setting on the trunk springs. You need a special tool to do it yourself. If that deosn't work, then a new set of stiffer springs is what's needed. I have an OEM spolier that came from the dealer, & my trunk pops up, but only opens about 2-3 inches.

"The trunk barely opens with the spoiler on it!
If you want, you can get the trunk to open more by having the tension bars adjusted.
However, as long as it opens, you might not want the trunk opening up so much that it smacks someone looking at your car, or invites people to steal stuff in your trunk. "

hope this helps...

I had the Acura OEM one installed when i bought the car by Acura and when it unlocks it lifts a few inches off but not by a huge amount.

Same here.

I never even thought about my dynamat holding it down though.
