noice....stock e55....aside from the tires...wow...the e55 just ate the cobra alive from the start.
not suprising considering the e55 has atleast 50hp and 100ftlbs of trq more than the cobra.....even with the mods you see how badly the cobra lost.
e55 doesn't even have any power mods.....yipes.....

I don't get it... They have the monkey pissing on the Ford symbol but it appears that the Cobra wins both times. After the first race, they cut to the a scene at the end where the Cobra has already slowed down... Maybe I'm wrong. Both cars are sweet though and the AMG is pretty sick

Ummn.. watch the end.. The Cobra appears to pass the AMG.. At 3:20 on the video... Maybe the AMG was slowing down or I'm just mistaken as they are going so fast it's hard to really tell
And the first time at the end it's not accurate (2:38) as the Cobra has already slowed down by the time they reach the camera..
I love the AMG, but a well modified Cobra would kill a stock AMG...
Remember Gav's dyno's?

I'd take the E55 over the Cobra any day though

seems the e55 has already let off the gas. The second race was much closer as the cobra got a good launch.

It would have been much better if these guys took it to the track. I'd love to see what they were running and to see the 60ft for the E55

wow....man couple of things
not the same car. stock supercharge ron the cobra is not a kenne bell. It only has a upgraded pulley and diablo chip. With those mods he might get 60hp/60ft-lbs. The numbers you are citing are from a kenne bell S/C kit that is aftermarket.

i'm just as suprised as you. For that much weight to get moving so quickly....especially against the cobra. Perhaps the driver of the cobra isn't the best? I'm sure it's not easy launching a car with all that power and the notoriously heavy clutched fords.

this shows that its not always the faster car than wins, yes the amg is a beast, but a 03 cobra would those mods should walk away from it WITH THE RIGHT DRIVER, its a mllion times easier to launch that benz than the ford
i'm waitin for the 65 amg to come out, i think its gonna walk over 911 tt's and vipers...

a stock e55 runs 12.4 at BEST
a stock 03 cobra prolly 12.6, i think all thise mods put the stang in the 11's well driven,
c mon zap, we all know the mustang is a faster car, its just harder to drive
ask pull t or jtkz13, they'll tell u exactly what that stang should be running w/ those mods

wish the Stang had better rubber...sounded like he was smokin halfway down just searching for a gear in the 1st one
2nd one was MUCH better, altho still tough to get a hookup...Benz got good launches both times...if the Stang got an even better launch than in the 2nd vid, i'd love to see how close it would be

lol we are assuming abit much no?
1- AT are EASIER to launch than MT but it's not a brainless activity. It's not just stomp-n-go....ask anybody who goes to the track with a AT car *cough* majority of this board *cough*
2- Driver's first launch sucked but the second one was pretty good.....still lost by a good amount.

show me a stock cobra running 12.6. Best i've seen was a 12.8-12.9
btw, that cobra has some major traction issues, that's what lead to the AMG taking off so much quicker.

TT v12. The S600 has seen very low 12's stock, high 11's w/ better tires. The new 65 motors are going to be insane though 700+ hp and lb ft

I'm going to post this which someone posted on another forum because it sums it up well:
The E55 claims to have 473hp. However, it is the exact same engine as the SL55 which claims to have 493hp. Mercedes probably underrated the engine. I'm pretty sure the tires on the AMG have more grip than the stock ones.
The Cobra has 390 HP from the factory. With the exhaust, chip and pully the Cobra should be pushing 460wrhp or about 500 some at the crank. I think the Cobra has more grippier tires than the AMG.
Weight wise I think they are the E55 is about 4087 lbs while the Cobra is 3665 lbs.
Factory numbers claim that they both have a 0-60 time of 4.5
I personally think that the driver of the Cobra just could not get enough traction or just didn't know how to launch is car properly. The E55 was an automatic and should have a near perfect launch each time. So this race probably came down to the Cobra driver's skill.

RWD, Drag radials and advanced MB electronics all help. My friend has an Auto Z, and although the Z has more torque than a CLS, it basically has little to no wheelspin off the line due to RWD and great weight distribution
