Regular gas in CLS....

The idiot at the gas station put regular in instead of super. So has anyone else run regular? Do ya think I should add some boost?

Don't sweat it too much. You won't get the same peppy acceleration your use to (if you try, you might here some knocking cause by pre-ignition). I'd just let it run out. Don't know what adding boost might do. Some engines can't handle it.

If you start to notice some hesitation when you accellerate, or if you hear the engine knocking, add some octane boost. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry too much.

In my area the price of mobil gas is rediculous. Regular: $1.93 Mid: $2.03 Premium: $2.13. Then i asked the guy in cashier if the price of the gas is going down he said " sorry bud it might increase this summer more probably $ 3.00 for premium .

The ECU compensates for lower octane by retarding the timing.

You'll just lose some of the "pep" as others have said, no biggie.

Another perspective on gas prices: after filling up a rental car while in Germany earlier this year, I don't think I'll ever again complain about prices here (it was about triple our cost). I guess comparatively "low" gas price is a small consolation for not having the Autobahn though...

i really do feel for all of you. these gas prices are outrageous. i can get:
87 for $1.50
91 for $1.60
93 for $1.70
these prices are from 5-2-01. i hope that these prices (world-wide)will start falling(for everyone's sake), because it really does start becoming expensive to give a mustang an old fashioned "ass-whippin'"

Cheapest I've seen it in San Diego is about 1.96; heard the from my friend in the Bay Area that it's about 2.30(?) there.
Just a few years ago in Corpus Christi TX, 87 was only 73 cents!

I live in the middle of silicon valley in the redwood city/san mateo area. Gas is about $2.35/gallon of premium here. I predict $3.00 easy by summer. Oh well, it's still dirt cheap compared to the rest of the world, we are spoiled with anything cheaper than $4.00/gallon.

I'm putting in a k&n dropin today, people here said they get about another 4mpg.

How about buying regular and adding in some octain boost?

Jens, any long term ill effects of using a mid grade 89 gas? Will the computer compensate enough to prevent ALL knocking/pinging? (performance aside of course)

That's the only worry about using regular. The computer will retard the timing, but is it variable enough to reduce all the knocking? That's were you get into engine damage territory.
