Red, blue, or anthracite?
Hi all,
I've been a long-time visitor here, infrequent poster. Have a 2001 CL-S that I love, and have been debating whether to take the financial plunge and try to get one of the last 6-speeds around. Well, I've decided to go for it. My local dealer has found one each of red, aegean blue, and anthracite that are still out there. I like them all. What's the consensus: fun red, classic blue, or classy anthracite?

With this kind of thinking I guess that all the guards red Porsche 911's and red Ferraris are chick cars

My second choice for color on a CL was blue.
well, scooter's ride is gorgeous.. those rims and the white tails looks amazing.. i dunno.. i always see women is red cl's ... it's a rad color though.. damn scooter that is one awesome looking ride.
Anthracite, hands down.
I almost got an anthracite, but the only one at the dealership was sold the night before. I had to settle for a silver... well, I wouldn't say "settle for it", because I love silver, as well. But it will never look as good as anthracite.

Red is awesome, but high maintenance. i had a Teg that turned pink within 3 years. I went with Silver because it always appears clean and is cool to the touch. I would say anthracite out of your choices. By no means are any colors on the CL S settling. I love my silver
Dude, get anthracite...it looks even sweeter when it's cloudy out or when it just starts to turn dark outside. Plus, it's more unique since the color was only out in '03. Here's a pic if my car was dropped w/ GT1's (thanks to danny25 for the Photoshop)
I had an 03 CLS6 in satin silver-no navi. Then I got my wheels re powder coated in a chrome but also black pearl process by these guys-its the dark looking wheel in the opening screen.
www.goodrichtechnology.com only $400 for all four wheels, so I got the tires remounted and put back on the silver car. Looked fine to me.
So I am at the dealer waiting for an oil change, and an anthricite pulls up right behind my car and it becomes obvious I needed an anthricite for me too! That was on a thursday night in Chicago. The following Monday afternoon, I was in Columbus, Ohio, picking my new anthricite navi with spoiler. I kept the tires and wheels and put them on the new car. Pictures are posted in the archives. Look for "Dfreder370 new CLS" posted by smitty.
I hope you aren't going to be too picky about options at this point. When my dealer was challenged to get me the anthricite with a navi, there were three in the lower 48. Two in California, and one in Ohio. The spoiler can be added later, which I did.
I STRONGLY urge you to have a NAVI demoed to you before you pick a color. The navi is great, and an added bonus is the Onstar system, which is free for one year, and about $16 a month there after. And the included hands free phone is a joy to use, and now if your car is ever stolen, chances are better that 90% you will get it back. All you gotta do is tell the cops your PIN number, and them 17 satellites will not only pinpoint your car, but also the direction it is traveling. Window prices $31,550 for a non navi. $33,400 with a navi (no spoiler in each case). And let's face it, another $1,850 for ALL THAT is nothing on a >$30 Large car.
The girls love the navi, and so do the bosses and the built in phone. Somehow, the navi sets you apart, says you've made it.
So, I would find a Navi model first, and worry about the color second. I liked my satin silver too, but after I looked around a bit, there are SO MANY satin silver CLs, TLs, RSXs, Civics and Accords out there, I think honda got a great deal on silver paint somewhere. Let us know how you come out, but you better move quick! The CLS6 is a very awesome car!
My vote is for anthricite first, blue second, red third. However, if all three had BLACK interiors, and I had the standard satin silver wheels all the CLs get, I'd be flippin quarters.

P.S: If you get the navi, and therefore the Onstar that comes with it, you have one of the few cars where me and my three passengers can have a conference call with another business WHILE you are rolling down the interstate!
I wanted navi but because I was pressed for time, the freaking dealer couldn't find me one...but I'm still happy with my anthracite no navi. Take dfreder's advice....if they have navi...get it. I'm sure the price you can get it for w/ navi will be the same as or cheaper than the price I got my car for w/o navi.
Good luck and congrats on the new car once you get it!

agean blue i have one and love it . i was tossed when i was ordering the car ,anthracite or blue go with the blue ive seen both together and the blue is alot nicer and alot more eye catchy
You should get what YOU want. This will be your car to live with. Not mine or someone elses. Get what you like, there are really no bad choices here. But consider the navi option, definately. Someone else laments his no navi choice. Page 2 as of now.
ANTHRACITE! or blue.
red is a bitch to clean. everything scratches it. I bought the red only cause it was the only 6 speed on the lot. blue and black were coming in 2-3 months and I couldn't wait. but the red is growing on me
it just scratches easily

Red scratches easily? Explain please. Do you mean to say that is "show" scratches more? Not been my experience.
The Anthracite is very nice. Never liked Hondas blue's though. On any model. They should look at GMs blues. Just a preference, if you like it go for it.
I've had the red and parchment colour combo, and it shines like new. Bought in 06/00. Doesn't show dirt like Black or dark blue, and shines from a distance. Sometimes silver looks a bit flat till you get close.
I wish they had offered a dark metal flake red with a saddle leather interior.
